Coils ?

Upon starting my car this morning it started to shake badly and the SES light came on. I'm thinking bad coils , I don't have a tool to pull codes. This should be covered under the SULEV warranty. My question is will the dealer replace all coils or just the ones that have gone bad ? Also will I do damage by driving the car 15 miles to a dealer or should I just have it towed?

You'll be fine, drive it there if it's just a coil. Most of the time, the code will disappear and only come back if you put a lot of load on it.

Yea, sounds like a coil. Good luck trying to get the dealer to change anything that isn't broken yet haha.

How long ago did you change spark plugs? If it is a coil, they will probably start taking turns crapping out. I had coil 5 give me problems and ended up changing them all to spare me the annoyance down the line.

Never changed the plugs yet, car has about 79,000 miles. Lol your right about the dealer changing out all the coils if only a couple are bad. Wishful thinking on my part. Gonna just make a appt with MNC

If you are still on the original coils you should replace them all, and replace all the plugs while you are at it.

You can do all of it yourself for about $160 and 30 minutes.

Amazon has the coils for ~$20 a piece and $52 for a set of spark plugs.
