Insurance companies for wrapped cars...

Those of you who have wrapped your cars, what insurance companies do you use?

What info you give them and how much is hike?

I am seriously tempted to get my car wrapped however my insurance refused to cover. My renewal is due soon so I want to check with wrap friendly insurance companies re; insurance quotes.

Thanks.

Thanks for speedy response. Did you add that on renewal or during your policy?

They are covering me at 40% more price than other companies.

I am assuming that you don't need to update dvla records about the colour change as it's not permanent?

Seems such a piss take.

Is the car more likely to be in an accident or stolen due to the wrap or is it just an admin fee?

Hi Sam, I used to be insured with Churchill and they did not charge me anything when I declared it. It wise to declare, even if its just to make sure the replacement costs of the wrap are covered in the event of body damage.

A wrap is a great way to protect the paintwork and it makes cleaning the car so much easier and as long as it is done well it looks great as well.

I would highly recommend Totally Dynamics in Enfield, which is not too far from you either.

Don't forget to notify DVLC if the wrap changes the colour of the car. It's a legal requirement.

You will be surprised that some insurance companies charge you more than that....
Last year when I inquired, I was told that it would cost £400 extra to cover the wrap.

Spoke to Churchill and they have stopped covering wrapped cars now.
Spoke to tesco insurance and they do not cover wrapped cars as well.

Anybody else knows of other companies who cover wrapped cars?

Things have a changed a little now. DVLA do have to be informed of the wrap is to stay on the car for more than 6 weeks or something, previously didn't need to te them.

As for insurance companies, although it doesn't affect the possibility of having an accident they are now covering their backs more that if the car is involved in a crash etc then the cost is going to increase to repair it as the car panel will have to be sprayed first then the wrap reapplied.

I'd just try the usual ones Sam like, Sky, HIC, Adrian Flux as they all tend to be a little more mod friendly for sure.

Wow. Churchill were ok with wrap, but when I called them to tell them of all the other mods I have done they kept me hanging on the phone for 5 mins and then came back and said my insurance had been cancelled with immediate effect! I'm now with Adrian Flux and the price was OK.

Hi Sam,

Sky has been really good to me so far, perhaps it is worth a try? It was also 50% cheaper compare to other all other companies' quotes.

That's bad, now you'll have to say "yes", forever, to the question they always ask "have you ever had insurance cancelled by an insurer for any reason".

You should have told them that the mods were planned, not done, then if they refused them you could have cancelled and gone elsewhere rather than have them cancel on you.
