Change Spark Plugs?
Hey guys,
I'm having some misfires occur only on certain tunes. I'm thinking of changing the spark plugs. I have a 2011 335i (N55) with about 18k-19k miles on it. How often should I be changing the plugs? Am I due for another set simply due to time they've been on my car (as I baby her and don't put in many miles)? Finally, which spark plugs are they? I cannot differentiate between these 2. Engine Modifications include: -ER Charge Pipe -BMS Intake -VRSF 5" Stepped Intercooler -Wagner 5" High Flow Racing downpipe -Cobb AP v3 w/ PTF tune (93 oct) I appreciate the help. |

Go with the first one. Since you're tuned, every 20-25k miles. Also, for future reference ignition coils(Delphi) every 45-50k miles.

They are both Bosch and both OEM. From the searching I did, it seems the second one with the "S" at the end is actually what originally comes with an N55? At least according to RealOEM? Yet the first one is a suitable replacement?
Also, thanks for the heads up on coils as well. |

Since you are tuned get the NGK ones off Burgertuning and gap them to .022". You do not want the "tri-prong" ones that come stock because you can't decrease the gap.

He doesn't need to as PTF has repeatedly said this. If you're on upgraded turbo then NGK 5992's should be used.

I hit 20k recently and just changed my plugs on a tune with about 5k. Go with Bosch, here's where I ordered from:

When increasing boost and Hp it is best to get a heat range colder plugs. Maybe since he is only running 93 he will be fine with stock. But there is no reason not to get a heat range colder since he is replacing them already. As for the gap, that is pretty standard for being tuned and I would suggest decreasing the stock plug gap to at least .026" anyways.

Can anyone tell me the difference between those two? One is listed as "OE" replacement while the other is listed as "OEM Genuine" (second one).
They are both Bosch plugs. |
