Engine hot pull over

Ok so had an issue today driving on he 15 car started to feel sluggish and no power when yellow temp light came on immediately started pulling to shoulder and then got the red symbol shut car off opened hood and didn't see any coolant leaking or smoke waited 5 min started car and it ran fine from riverside to walnut when I got home I could hear water pump turning off then on let engine cool enough to check coolant and it was full started engine to see if water pump would send water to overfill tank and it did shoot out water out of little black tube into reservoir so unplugged battery and let sit for 10 min plugged back in drove for about 30 miles did not get any errors also drove streets to see if would maybe overheat or throw a cel but nothing wondering if my thermostat got stuck open or if it's the water pump don't have any way to read codes.. any ideas or thoughts of what it could be would be appreciated info on car

Air in the system. Do a purge, let it run though (it's automatic) and open the cap at the end.

But it sounds like you have a failing waterpump/thermostats. Doesnt hurt to try to bleed it first though, plus you can listen and hear if the water pump makes any weird noises.

if you hear loud fans then its the water pump.

Look at what symbol popped up. If your water pump did go, your oil temp gauge will be normal, but you will get a coolant symbol pop up in yellow (warning) then red (DANGER).

That's exactly the light I got but also a reduce power no check engine light and fan on 100% but also have driven it on streets for 20 miles and no overheat issues could it also be the battery I had gotten a low battery warning 2 weeks ago stated battery discharge while car off and also now sounds like wastgates are staying open wxhaust note changes dramatically then goes back to normal almost feels like a damn evo with turbo lag takes a couple seconds then boost buildsup and hits hard

Reduced power, fan on full blast = water pump.
You will have a code for water pump.

I remember mine like it was .... sept 2014

Yup did all that but if it was the pump wouldn't the fan kick on right away? I'm leaning toward the battery or thermostat I'll try to pull some codes and post up 2morrow thanks the quick reply

Failed tstat would usually stick open and throw an ses light. This definitely sounds like a waterpump on its way out. Might as well replace the tstat while you're in there.

Most likely water pump. Common failure point on the cars once they roll 80-100K

Ended up being the power wire going from battery to the actual pump had come loose and fried up and also the ibs had gone bad due to it so 2 waterpumps and 2 tstats a battery new radiator and all hoses ended up being a cable way to go Bmw since then I have gotten rid of the car
