BOV or Forge DV's?

Im making this thread of more of a functionality more than looks/noise. I could care less about noise.

Which one do you think would hold boost better?

Do you think venting the psi off in the atmosphere is better than recirculating it for the n54 engine?

Are people that have ran or are running a BOV system right now on their car experiencing boost taper early?

I have read great reviews about the forge DV's and how linear the boost is holding for them later in the RPM range.

Are people experiencing richer AFR's with the BOV installed in their car? Reason why im asking that is that some subbie and evo guys that experience these symptoms when running BOV's.

Ive always known that the N54 doesnt like the BOV. People were just doing it for sound. I remember early on that the Vishnu guys were also saying that if there were any problems, to take off the BOV and see if that fixes it. Also remember Terry saying that.

But, would like to hear others views on this.

Here we go again...

Despite the fact that this car has a MAP sensor and not a MAF sensor setup, people still claim that the car doesn't run well with a BOV. Some claim that it doesn't provide them with a boost surge like their DV's do, but I get the same feeling with a BOV that I did when my car was stock so maybe its install error. In any case, if you hate the sound then just go with forged DV's because they have shown that they can handle boost just as well without the sound that you have said you hate.

Personally, I like the sound, as well as the idea that you aren't re-routing hot air that has already been compressed, although in reality it probably doesn't make much of a difference at all. The bottom line is if you like the sound get it, if not, then go with forged DV's.

Same here. Thats why I want to get peoples opinions that have run BOV's or are running BOV's since I have no personal experience with them in this car.

The DV's wouldn't be re-routing hot air...compressed air yes...but its going to be much cooler than the air entering from the intake since it has already passed through the intercooler.

I thought you already ordered the Forge units?

Listen, stop dicking around and put in the Forge units. Then go out and buy one of these for the extra sound. You'll have the best of both worlds, more hp and better sound.

Here is a idea of what I'm talking about, sounds AWESOME!

ELECTRONIC NA BLOW OFF SOUND GENERATOR
Once the accelerator is stepped off, the NA Blow Off Valve will generate a sound like a turbocharged vehicle's blow off valve. The sound from the NA Blow Off Valve can be adjusted to be the same as a turbo blow off valve. The NA Blow Off Valve sounds like a real blow off valve in turbo applications. You will not be able to tell the difference on the sound generated between the NA Blow Off Valve & the turbo blow off valve. The sound generated is conspicuous, and will not make one have a second look to ensure if it is genuine.

how can you not buy the NA noise generator 2000 plus after that explination.

ive gone from stock dvs...to the aa bov....back to stock dvs...and now to the forge dvs. I did notice with the AA bov shifting gear was not holding boost as well as the stock dvs. But now with the forge dvs, it feels almost the same as the aa bov...also almost as loud...ha..maybe its cause of my vented hood though. They all feel good to me, i like switching between things...when i wanna go stealth go for dvs, if you wanna be loud and scare people go with the bov...one thing good about the aa bov is it replaces the stock charge pipe which is smaller. i wish i could replace the charge pipe and still use the forge dvs. anybody see this.

I'm surprised Forge did not offer a new charge pipe along w/ the DV's. You could have a local fabricator design one i'm sure.

coming from the supra community, i cant think of anyone over there who changed out their stock diverter valves for a pair of forged ones. everyone went with just a single bov even if they still had stock twins or a big fat single... just my 2 cents...

The Diverter Valve holds boost better............people keep talking about the MAP sensor that entitles you to run a BOV.........

People its a CLOSED LOOP SYSTEM (which means divert excess air back into the system)..........

Just cause the MAP sensor entitles you to run a BOV doesn't mean that it work as well as a stronger aftermarket DV, I am sure a whole new DV system will come out in time and not just the aftermarket Valve...........
