winter driving issues

As some of you live in Vancouver know for fact we had a terrible winter.

My E90 can't even move at all with the damn performance wheels in the snow.

I am trying to prepare for the next winter season.
Please tell me which way is better:

X3 (all wheel drive) with all season tires
or
E90 (rear wheel drive) with 4 snow tires

thanks

I got stuck today in Toronto with a 335i with 4 blizzak snows. First time it has happened but I think all wheel drive with snows is the safest.

Depends.

To get moving --> X3.

Stopping --> E90.

Best --> X3 with snows.

Everything is a friggin trade-off unfortunately.

E90 post is full of snow tire threads. It comes down to the tires. I'm surprised that you even tried to drive in snow on the summer tires.

If you can't get winters get a set on winter beater rims with all seasons.

You're not in So-cal.

You should still get winter tires even in Vancouver, although you probably won't need the aggressive snow variety. It is low temperature that affects summer tire performance and increases stopping distance. Once pavement temperature drops below 7C you are in low traction terrority.
