Coolant tank opinions?

Hello so I recently found what seems to be a leaking coolant tank and was looking into replacing it. I saw on ecstuning they have three different ones including the oem, behr, and vaico. Obviously oem would be the best choice and I've read bad thing about behr, but was wondering if anyone had experience or knowledge on the vaico one. It got my attention since its half the price. Also are the kit they sell worth it, is everything in it really necessary or I'm i better of just getting the tank? Heres the link

I would go with the cheaper one. One thing I never understood was that people spend the big bucks for OEM parts, yet its the OEM parts that are constantly failing (water pump, thermostat, coils, gaskets, or in your case the coolant tank). Even if you get the same milegae out of a non-OEM part you still spent way less money. Heck, the non-OEM part might last even longer.

+1 OEM failed, trying something different.

I installed the Vaico expansion tank in my e90 a few months ago. Quality is fine though the sensor included in the kit I purchased from ECS was damaged during shipping. A quick chat with ECS customer service and they sent over an OEM replacement sensor via priority mail. No issues with the expansion tank thus far - appears same quality as OEM.

Avoid, it's being sold under the old number and Vaico is not OEM.

Your logic is...illogical. Of course the OEM part failed. It was the part that came on the car and all parts will eventually fail. The fact that you think it fails more often is likely ONLY due to the number of parts in service. you don't see the cheap replacement parts failing because only a handful of people buy them. I guarantee you they fail though and they'll likely fail sooner. There is a reason BMW chose to go with the mfg they did and not the cheapest one out there.

Installed the Behr tank from ECS in Feb. Fit and works fine, although the Uro cap that came in the kit isn't exactly right (doesn't fit like OEM, although it's working fine).
3mos/5k miles FWIW...
