I had a similar issue on my car though its a 328 with a GM tranny. First reverse stopped working and then a week later the car did not go into drive. Had it towed to my independent BMW mechanic, turns out it was a bad Valve Body Control. The repair cost me under $1200 including tranny flush instead of a transmission rebuild that many people on the forums said. Good luck I know how you feel, hopefully its something minor or like what happened to my car.
