Recently we noticed the AC was not blowing cold on our 2009 335 sedan when in traffic. I also noticed that the cooling fan never kicks on even with MaxCool mode ON (JB4). I scanned for codes and nothing came up other than "2AAF Fuel pump, plausibility". After awhile the car will get hot and the coolant light will come on with the oil gauge at 230-240 degrees F. I am looking for inputs as this is a PITA.

I did recently change out the water pump and the car has 53K on it.

Did you check the connection to the fan ?

Everything is connected and I did not change the thermostat. Looking back on it that was not smart on my part as it was not a fun job.

Is there a way to bench test the fan?

Oil temp at 230-240 is normal.

What you need to be able to see is your coolant temp which is water.

If you have a bavarian technic tool I believe there is an option to run the fans at full speed.

I'm surprised you have no codes, especially having the coolant light come on.

I don't think JB4 is thorough with checking shadow codes which I believe this may be a part of.

You need a real BMW diagnostics scanner. At any rate, if you could find some source of the electrical schematic, you could try testing the fans. I'd double check your connections since you were recently in the area.

The car is fine as long as I am driving it but any stop and go or testing in the drive way it gets hot. At 248 degrees F the coolant light came one. Went up to 255 and I shut it down. Temps were gained using a OBD scanner tool through a Samsung tablet. All connections are good.

Check voltage at the fan... Did you do an air bleed after you installed the water pump? +1 for doing your t-stat...
