Stage 1+ Dyno
Hey everyone -
I had a chance to dyno my 2008 335 XI 6AT w/sport paddle shift over the weekend thanks to DD and the folks at A-Spec in Schamburg, IL. Since I'm relatively new at this, I figured I'd make this post as a guide for others who may be starting out. First off, my car had about 72k miles and was bone stock when I started on this project in January. Since then, I've had a walnut blast service and I have done the following installs myself. 1. Cobb Access Port, V3 2. Plugs 3. Coils 4. Forge Diverter Valves 5. ER Charge Pipe 6. ETS 5" FMIC 7. Vacuum lines except the one that runs from brake booster back to muffler flap 8. Vacuum canisters 9. Boost Solenoids 10. PTF Custom Tune 11. Front and rear pads and rotors Plugs and coils were done with the Cobb and resolved misfire. Vacuum lines and some extra clamps on the charge pipe and FMIC connections were done to stop 30FF. All is good as of now. So, what's all this get?? About 100 WHP and about 140 TQ. The most notable changes thus far have been (1) the walnut blast, which made the car run exceptionally smooth, (2) Cobb stage 1, (3) Dzenno's work at PTF to improve on Cobb, then at Stage 1+. Next are: (1) smoothing out the tune to my specific taste, (2) DPs to free-up the turbos and (3) Alpina B3 flash. I expect to hit 400 WHP or be really darn close with a car that is smooth and very stable. (http://www.datazap.me/u/jwebb335xi/d...g=0&data=11-12)

Not too shabby, albeit on a Dynojet.
My results on a Mustang Dyno were 346WHP and 428WTQ, Mods include FMIC, Injen DCI, Cobb charge pipe and a Stage 1+ Cobb Pro Tune. N54 engine with 7DCT in 4th gear: ![]() |

Lot of timing corrections, ouch. The lower ones are probably somewhat masked by higher boost, but your HP and torque shoot up about 20 when it finally clears up just over 6000rpm and even later in the second pull.

Why not add an downpipe or maybe some DCIs. Do that along with some e85 and you'll be in the 400whp zone

Good numbers but unfortunately without baseline dyno they do not mean much.

This is my "home" dyno-
I baselined my 335xi AT- on this dyno prior to doing my mods on 93 octane- Put down 263 awhp/281awtq This is also the same dyno I made 416/476 on e40 And 446/467 with my PTF map and RBs (no inlets) It's an extremely accurate dyno IMO- Some other #s from the dyno day- Wedge tuned- RWD FBO MT E60 fuel 335- 417 whp/ 477tq A VM top mount kit- 6467 turbo only made 680 whp @ 33 psi the same day (the same car featured on BB- beating the shit out of a hellcat) Good to see you Jim ![]() |

Did Cobb Socal do your protune? Were you running ACN 91?

93 octane. any sense as to what causes the timing corrections? FWIW, Dzenno at PTF has already made a new map for me; i just haven't loaded it. Also, I did downpipes this week. Hopefully, my turbos are free to to their business and I won't see these corrections any more. I'm assuming Dzenno will get to the bottom of the issue if it persists. As of now, i'm running an OTS map and the car is buttery smooth and I'm looking forward to the new PTF map!

Any sense as to whether a DCI really provides any benefit over a good drop in - which I already have - other than an intoxicating sound?? From what I can tell, the car may breath a bit better but only up top... Given I'm not tracking now, i don't know its a big deal... thanks for the comments guys.

Your IAT wasn't the best on the dyno which didn't help, they may need better fans. Might try another gas station (top tier) and let Dzenno continue to work on it since you've changed some hardware. Numbers are good, but certainly some area under the curve to be had. |
