Help identifying unknown plug under hood

Can someone please tell me what this plug is for? It is on the passenger side, on top of the cowl and it was just sitting there.

That is the air quality sensor. It mounts to the little mount to the right of it and down in the photo. It should fit in there and twist a bit to lock in place.

That plug is on both sides, it sits in that circle on your cowl.

Edit: Didn't know that was an air quality sensor, what does it do?

uhhh...senses air quality...

It detects particulates and other fumes in the air and allows the car to switch to recirc mode if needed (is you are in the automatic setting for recirc).
