Direct fit oil cooler upgrade
I've been scouring the interbwebz for a direct fit for those of us with a factory oil cooler. It seems the E90 M3 tranny cooler from CSF CSF -8042 is the part number oem oil cooler.
The M3 guys are using it to cool their trannies but E90 guys can us it to cool our motors. http://csfrace.com/bmw-radiator-splash/ This is their site, I've also installed an all aluminum radiator, outstanding quality !! |

if you are considering replacing your OEM cooler with that, I doubt it would provide any significant improvements.

Only 30% increase in efficency over the tiny OEM setup. Definitely not big enough to make any noticeable difference.
Most aftermarket kits offer 200-400% increase, just FYI. |

I wish they would make a mirror image one that bolts up to the drivers side. Then we could run a dual oil cooler setup.

Price is 599, it's the thermal rejection that makes it so awesome. It's what's inside that counts, not just surface area.
Big things come in small packages, even this engine is only 182 cubic inches but is a beast. It's track proven at Thunderhill Run, a 25 hour balls out race. http://www.speedhunters.com/2015/06/...-autosport-m3/ |

I agree. I'm just saying that I doubt it would provide very much of an upgrade. I would love to be proven wrong, however.

It is VERY easy to build a custom oil cooler if you are halfway decent with a wrench.
Buy an eBay OFH adapter AN10 lines 20-30 Row AN10 Core (no-names perform just as well as brand name in my experience) Some additional hardware for mounting (may have to get creative) Voila, a $200-300 oil cooler that outperforms the $1300 Dinan unit
