MAPerformance downpipes? Any review?

Hey guys just found pretty cheap downpipes from a company called MAPerformance. I found it on youtube when searching for downpipe install.

Never heard of them before. Anyone used them? Are they any good? Price is cheapest i have seen for what looks like good quality.

I have had a customer of mine come to me for a set of dp's after returning a set of MAPerformance ones due to fitment issues. That's the only experience I have with them.

If these DP do not fit, you lost couple hundred dollars on labor fees and shipping.
Price difference between these DP and VRSF is less than $100
Just go with the more proven DP for less headache

Note: I have couple customer who bought the DP off Ebay and were not very satisfied with it. they ended up getting a DP from us instead

Stick with name brand downpipes from vendors who back them up and will make it right if something goes wrong. Lots too choose from. Ebay is probably not the best place to buy these, especially if the Ebay vendor is from overseas. Then you are really screwed if something goes wrong.

Heck, go to the for sale section and pick up a proven set for $200. Not worth the risk imo.

I can't speak for the downpipes, but I can for the company. I used to live down the street from them and they are a top notch operation, especially when it comes to selling parts. I also had one of their guys create me a custom catch can and the welding was perfect. I'm sure if they don't end up fitting, they would correct it.

Why go with a product that may or may not work when you have a proven product that will work 100% close in price?

Even if they will fix it, who will pay for labor (twice, in case it does not fit the first time)?

Yes of course, we are trying to get him to buy a product that works 100%.

Yeah, if I'm not doing my own labor I wouldn't risk it. So far I've seen one good review and the one above of someone returning theirs for a different set due to fitment problems. For the price, I'd at least call and ask what they would do customer service wise if it doesn't fit. I do my own labor though so that's just me. Great price for what looks to be quality downpipes from a great company though.

They don't fit properly like the other popular options on the market. Vband flanges are too thick and won't let the stock Vband close on them. In addition, they ship with a replacement motor mount bolt to fix fitment issues which shouldn't even be required. Feel free to PM your email address if you want me to show you what im talking about in regards to fitment. Long story short, go with something proven either N54tuning or VRSF downpipes instead.

Weird, simple machining of the vband and they should fit? I wonder why they wouldn't just do this to their remaining inventory. They look quality but if fitment is off then maybe you should pass.

Depends if you're a DIY type or not.

They are not made in house despite what we may seem to believe based on the sheer size of MAPerformance. They used to actually be a sponsor here, and when they were they had a thread asking if U.S. made downpipes would have a market within the N54 community. The simple answer was no because VRSF and N54 tuning already have the downpipe market to a low price point with overseas products where they couldn't compete. At that point they sourced these from overseas and they "look" good but they certainly don't fit or function as well as they look. As I mentioned, anyone skeptical feel free to ask I have pictures to backup everything I have said. Oh by the way if you want to know how I know all this: if you really want a set I will send you the set I have for $250 shipped.

Thanks for the replies. They mentioned in the youtube vid about an extra bolt to make it fit properly which sounded strange as the others dont need this.

I can do the install myself but problem is im in NZ and shipping is extremely expensive so im trying to find the best deal i can. But returning a non-fitting downpipe would not be worth the cost so i guess ill skip these.

Can any vendors on here do me a deal for FMIC/downipes/CP?

These are a poor replica of the available offerings. They claim to make them in the US when we have proof that they're made overseas and we've had a couple people replace their ill fitting downpipes with ours. Just check the reviews:
