Apex EC-7 18x9 and 18x10, Tire fitment

Hi, I just orderd the 18x9 et31 and 18x10 et 43.

I have a 2007 e92 335i, or pre lci

I plan to run 245/40/18 for the fronts

the rears will be 285/35/18 tires and that is why I went with the 43 offset over the 33. I assume I wouldn't need any roll with the fenders and with the less aggressive offset, and maybe I will run a spacer if they don't stick out enough, not sure yet.

Your more than likely going to have to roll the fenders. Those are some wide tires without any roll. You definitely won't be able to run a spacer without rubbing. The front you may need a roll or pull the front alignment pins. I rubbed up front without a roll on 18x9et30 and 235/40 tires until I got camber plates.

strange, I am running 245 up front right now on 8" wide wheels at 37mm offset, so the tires bulge but no rubbing. I guess I do not understand how a slightly wider wheel that has a lower offset and a 9" wide wheel has more likely hood to not fit, can you explain more about the pin?

as for the rear I already run 18x9 et 39 with 265/35/19, so the 285x35x18 would be less diameter by .4", but will stick out 1/4" more (6mm), and I have good room with the 265s already. basically the meat of the 285 is actually going more towards the inside with the 43offset.

also the front is only sticking out .2" more then my current setup as the tire width is staying the same with even less bulge, so technically the diameter will even be slightly less.

The front of my wheels stick out 20mm more than your current setup which means yours future setup will stick out 19mm more than your current setup. So the front is actually going to stick out .75in more, not .2. The pins are the alignment pins you see sticking out of the struts under the hood. If you remove those you can add up to one degree of negative camber.

The new setup up for your rear is going to stick out 11mm more. You might be ok without rubbing in the rear but it's hit or miss. with spacers it will absolutely rub

Go to willtheyfit.com you can plug in your old and new setup and compare all of your widths, offsets, etc. it's the biggest help when trying to figure out how the new setup will fit.

maybe @monacobluee90 can shed more light

yeah I understand what your saying and how the offset works, but its not as simple as just the wheel width and offset, the biggest thing that is going to make contact will obviously be the tire and wheel width affects tire size according to how much it is stretched or bulging due to the wheel width.

To put things somewhat basically If I am running a 8" wide wheel with a 245, and I goto a 9" wide wheel with the same width tire. my tires diameter will be slightly less, as well as the tire will follow a slightly stretched angle from the bead to the actual tread of the tire, where-as a 8" wide wheel will follow a bulged angle out towards the treads. these are all things that need to be considered when your working with very close to fitting sizes.

but I do agree with you, its really too early to tell what modifications if any I will need to do to fit these tires on the wheels, it may even come down to variations in sizes of different brand tires.

I have 18x9 et31 & 18x10 et25 with 255/35 & 275/35 with fender roll in the rear only. I have seen 285/30 fit on et25 and slight roll. With 285/35 rear and et43 I would worry about shock clearance. Other than that you should be all good.

thanks guys, I will probably do a test fitment Sunday with just the wheels and make a few measurements, but I have a feeling this should fit.

Cant wait to have 285s out back should make the car look pretty aggressive, also love how the EC-7s look in satin black, pretty nice looking wheel.

I do have all M3 suspension bits, but I doubt this will really change anything about fitment other than possible slightly less deflection of the bushings under heavy driving...

Slightly different but I'm running a 245/35-19 on a 19x9 ET35 EC7 wheel up front and a 275/30-19 on a 19x19.5 ET33 in the rear. No rubbing on either.

I may push the rear out a little and look into rolling the fenders as the fronts look a little more out then the rears.
