Does "Read ECU" read current module settings of default settings from VO
After processing a specific module (ECU) and clicking on "read ECU" does this tell me the current settings in the module (reflect things that were previously coded) or just the default setting from the VO?
In other, words can I click on read ECU to confirm that my previous coding took effect? Does the loaded profile (whether I'm using a coding profile or expert profile) effect how read ECU behaves? The reason I ask is that after initially clicking on ZCS/FA f. ECU, selecting Chasis, then selecting CAS, and then clicking back it seems that the FSW_PSW.TRC (for the whole car) just shows the default setting from the VO and not the current settings that were affected by previous coding. I disabled NIC (neutral idle control) and SST (soft/comfort stop) and these aren't obvious changes that can be confirmed by testing the car's new behavior like it would be for doing something obvious such as adding BC_digital to the cluster. I'm pretty certain that NIC was supposed to be coded to the EGS but I'm not sure that SST is stored in the BDSC (I have xdrive), which is where I tried to code it.

read ecu reads the selected ecu of the car.
It seems that you haven't it the correct way. After your changes did you do a sg_codieren? First F5 and then F2 (sg_codieren) |

Yes when I previously coded these I made sure to use sg_codieren to write the changed values from the MAN file. And I was sure to make sure that manipulation was checked off in the profile at that time.

I appreciate you offering your services. I have pretty good handle on coding and have done so successfully but just wanted to understand the nuances of how NCS expert works. Can you confirm that once you click ZCS/FA and then chose to read the CAS, that the big trace file you get is derived from the default VO as opposed to any custom coding currently installed? Thanks again.

I don't have a full TRC of my car available right now but I can tell you if you go as far as reading a particular ECU, i.e. KOMBI for example then back out and read the TRC file it will show whatever coding changes you have made previously and not the default.

Let's say kombi and someone coded digital speed (which is disabled by default) you'll read out the kombi ecu. Digital speed will be show as enabled because someone coded this. If you want the module to read all default values as when it left the factory first revert/code kombi ecu by default and read out the kombi ecu again. You'll now see that digital speed has been set to disabled. To revert to stock use a profile which has manipulation disabled. |
