Using cars to help others - pretty cool
I am part of a local car club that is a really great group of guys. All cars are welcome - we have everything from F458 Italias, GTRs, Lambos, etc to lower end BMWs, Subarus, some vintage stuff, F bodies, even a airbagged big turbo PT Cruiser etc. The common denominator among us is that we all love cars and also like doing stuff for charity.
One of our members's friends noticed a 17-year old kid named Jason that sat at the end of his street everyday watching cars go by. Turns out that he has cerebral palsy and was a big car lover. After some discussion, the member and his friend decided to surprise Jason with his own private car show of our cars. They worked together with the local neighborhood to make sure he was out there on this particular day and even set up a police escort for all fifty-ish of us! I am in the black X1. It was really rewarding to see the joy on Jason's face when he saw us all drive by. His parents and the neighborhood were incredibly gracious hosts, and provided drinks and snacks to everyone. Jason even got the chance to sit in several of the cars! Anyway I figured this would bring a smile to many of your faces, and there are some cool cars in there (including a Phoenix Gold M4 with full carbon package). I am also sharing because for diseases like this, publicity is everything. I have members of my family who have similar diseases and I know all too well how getting funding is a challenge for diseases that are not in the limelight. If you have the chance to do stuff like this, I highly recommend it. Here is a link to the video https://www.facebook.com/15489776653...22331838020681 And here is a link to more info about Jason, Cerebral Palsy, and his family's charity. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Celeb...099?fref=photo Last edited by paradoxical3; 08-04-2015 at 06:25 PM.. |

Here are some more pics....we attracted quite the crowd, as I guess a parade of that many sports cars with a police escort would do. It was also totally awesome to have the local police help out and turn a blind eye to what would be about 50 easy no front plate tickets ![]() |

Faith in humanity restored! Now jump-starting cars or repairing a stranger's 71 'Cuda's carby with a piece of an old car part I was taking to AutoZone for a core return seems so insignificant... Just saying.

Saw the video on FB yesterday. Good stuff. I'll participate in an event like this if it happens again.

Cool, where did you see it on facebook? I am kinda curious how it got out there. I did a google for it but didn't see any other links posted anywhere on the internet. Must just be various people sharing it on facebook.

This was a great act of good will and something any one of us can pull off in a smaller scale. But for kids small things matter the most. The best day in my life still is the one when my grandma took me for an ice cream. It came from her freezer, but I was five and felt like the most special person in the world. I can even name the brand and the flavor still. ![]()

What a fantastic idea! Loving cars is in many ways an emotional experience and it's nice to see those same emotions can be shared on a human level with all involved. Reading this made my day!

Kudos. Your magnanimity shows how one can sometimes make a difference with but the simplest of acts.
All the best.

Wow, very nicely done by all involved. So much evil and hate in this world, it's awesome to see caring people get together like this and make a person's dream come true. God bless you all.
