Where is this oil leak coming from
I just bought a 2007 335i bone stock with 92,000 miles. I left the car on jack stands in my garage for about 5 days because i just installed a vrsf 7 inch intercooler and downpipes.
I notice this small oil leak where the engine meets the transmission. Its really hard to tell where the leak is coming from but if i were to guess I would think its the oil pan gasket. It also does not leak very much. If i wipe it clean i might 1 or 2 drips ever other day when it was on jack stands not running. |

I have around the same mileage, and just had to change oil pan, valve cover, and main oil filter housing gasket. Seems like 75-90k miles is when these gaskets start to deteriorate.

Did you see my thread?
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1150196 I narrowed it down to either the oil pan gasket or rear main seal. I have already done the Valve Cover gasket and Oil Filter Housing Gasket. I have read some members trying to tighten the aluminum one time use bolts. Many of them have snapped them so be careful. |

the oil filter housing gasket is new and not leaking and i just changed plugs and coils and have a very good look at the valve cover and i do not think its leaking from there. So its either the oil pan gasket or the rear main sear right?

Oil pan gasket at that mileage is pretty common to have issues.

I had a cup under my leak and i'd say its like a tablespoon at most of oil after a week sitting in the garage. I have the new oil pan gasket and bolts but will probably wait until I have to do the turbos. My mechanic said do the turbos if you are going to drop the subframe.
