Simple CP question:

Thinking of going from Cobb stage1 sport up to aggressive. If my CP blows, do you think it's possible to drive say 10 miles home from work? Car's leased and still under warranty. Will put in my own CP if I decide to buy it. Thanks.

Why would you put in your own if it's still under warranty? My buddy's bone stock 2011 335is just blew his and the dealer replaced no questions asked.

That's my point. Not putting one in, the stock one is likely to blow. From someone who's been there I'd like an idea of how far I could safely drive if it does blow.

Never had a issue with stock. Peaking 18-19 psi for 50k miles.

Depends how it blows. Lots of pipes fail badly leaving your intake track completely exposed to the atmosphere. You can drive like that but if you ingest something into the engine, then thats not good as you can imagine.

Sometimes they fail in a way they can be put back on without much issue for a short drive. Its luck of the draw really.

126k miles 07' model, 18+psi STILL waiting for the OEM pipe to break like it's suppose to. I want to replace the DVs but can't justify it unless the pipe breaks.

EDIT: It happened last night...blew the CP apart at the intake. Immediate loss of power and the half engine light. Working on a replacement CP with BOV now. Crap...18-20 lbs boost with COBB Stage 1 Aggressive will do it!

Serious question - what generally happens when a CP blows. Loud pop? CEL? Reduced Engine Power? I guess what I'm wondering is...is there any question something happened?

Thanks

My stock pipe is fine too, but swap the dvs. I have data on them, can dig it out if you like but they close slow and leak even at stock boost. For factory pipe the best dvs are the hyperboost, fits just like stock dvs, no clamps...once the return hoses are removed looks very clean...

My stock cp blew the same day I flashed Cobb's stage 1 aggressive map. I'm running a cobb cp now.

I just "had to ask"...my CP just blew apart 15 mins ago. I floored it to pass, then a pffffffft and the engine lost power, then the half engine reduced power warnings went off! It broke off a chunk right at the intake. So.....?

When mine blew, I heard a loud pop with instant power loss, and immediate half engine/check engine light. The only solution is to just upgrade.

Yep, I just got done talking to Mike at n54tuning.com...I ordered an ER N54 Charge Pipe with HKS BOV + a BMS Dual Cone Intake. My stock charge pipe totally came apart at the throttle body. Fortunately, I found the clip and o-ring laying in the belly pan under the car!

I received everything today. Very nice looking unit. Installed in a little over an hour and back on the road. Thanks!
