Drivers Door: Sometimes it won't unlock or close (E92)

Hi,
I've got a bit of an issue with my drivers door only, passenger side is fine.

Sometimes I park up and can't get out because my drivers door is still locked. I need to press the centre central locking button to let me out.

Sometimes I can get out fine but then when I go to close the door it bounces back at me because it's still locked!

Only happens once a week at the most. Is this a WD40 job somewhere or something more technical?

It's an E92, 4 years old, out of warranty.

Thanks

You coded your car at all? With some coding apps (bmwhat) It's possible to set auto lock when driving to "at current speed" which was interesting if you were stationary when you happened to code. the car will auto lock ever time you unlock it even when stationary.

Therin started a new game with the wife called beat the lock.

Alternatively try charging the battery

No I've not changed anything, it does auto lock when I set off and hit around 5mph. I've had the car three and a half years.

Do you mean battery in the key fob?

Thanks

Worth checking diagnostic wise(ideally something to dealer standard) quick question if you unlock the car and get in yet leave the door open do you hear/see the window move on the odd occasion while the door is open? If so the issue you are having may well be a door lock/actuator fault.

The older actuators are a common fail. Ive had to replace all of mine. BMW have had 3 versions if I remember and they all fit

Thanks, I'll look them up to see if that's the cause.

I completed some experiments at the weekend:

I can't open my drivers door if the engine is still running. The 'lock pin' only comes up half way when I try to open it using the interior handle.

The lock pin moves up and down very slowly when unlocked / locked. The passenger side ones wizzes up and down.
