VIDEO INSIDE: Is this a rare black helix FMIC?

My buddy gave me a FMIC for very cheap. He says it's a helix. But I didn't know helix made a black one.

How many miles go by before a FMIC is considered bad?
My next question is would this fit my 335i coupe?

Looks like a helix but I thought they had rounded bars. At least mine does. A intercooler should last the life of the car. Yes it will fit your 335i coupe as long as it is an e92.

That's legit. Helix offered their fmic with a thermal coating for a limited time. The gains were minimal for them to justify the cost of the option so they stopped. You lucked out

That looks like one of their original versions from a long time ago.

Is their original good? I too wondered about the rounded inlets

As long as the intercooler isn't leaking it should last pretty much forever unless you seriously damage it with road debris or something. There's no moving parts, all it does is air gets pumped in one side and goes out the other.
