335d LED angel eye bulbs
Forgot I had some in my garage... They've been sitting since 2012! Lol
Anyway I was poking around and attempted to remove one of the factory bulbs and was pretty surprised at how much of a PITA it is to change this particular bulb on a 335d! Not sure if it's the same for all E90 chassis. Anyone else that has changed their angel eye bulbs feel that the wiring for the plug to the bulb is unnecessarily short! Does anyone have tips for making this job easier? |

It took us about an hour total with both of us trying to get the new bulbs in. We eventually got it done. It's not that it's a hard job to do, it just takes patience. And small hands is an advantage ![]() Take your time, the results are worth it. |

Everything fits inside the headlight housing? These bulbs have something else that plugs into them before the vehicle harness is plugged into it. I don't want to leave the caps off the headlight assembly.

You will be amazed that you can fit everything back into the headlight housing and reseal it. As you will see in the angel eye instruction booklet you will need to remove a plastic stub inside that housing assembly. Once that is done everything including the bulky plug/transformer can fit inside the housing so that you can screw the rear cap back on.

I highly suggest taking off the top plates, couple phillips screws, under the weather seal. This cover will give you an essential point of view for lining up bulbs and untangling wires if they are caught. Mine were hung up on the little metal pieces inside the housing.

What bulb/kits have you guys used? I would hate to have to do it more, than once for a while. Are they the white LED bulbs? They will look awesome on my Alpine '11

I got these cheap ones to see how I would like it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/281703234741
They are better than the stock ones, but not that bright. Can't really see during the day. I also turned up the voltage to the angel eyes on Carly, which helped, but I may swap them out for brighter ones.

I have the RGB ones from e92 lighting. Rice, I know. They stay white on the road, but when I park, the blue matches the paint nicely.

I buy my bulbs thru bimmian.com they're coming in LED now with a LIFETIME warranty expensive though. I got my Fog lights in LEDs from them and the Angel eyes in RED from them also

I just installed some "whiter" halogen foglight bulbs. To do this, I had to remove the inner wheel liner. Low and behold there was the housing for the angel eye bulb in plain sight and easy reach lol. If I would have known this, I would have removed the wheel liner to gain easy access to the angel eye bulb. The added work of removing the wheel and wheel liner would have been worth it, probably reducing installation time and definitely reducing frustration ![]() |
