** So the AA tune DOES remove the top speed limiter!**

AA doesn't specify whether or not their 328i tune removes the limiter or not, so after I got the tune I figured I'd go find out for myself

Car is a NON-SPORT PACKAGE 328i, has AA tune, aFE intake, Cyba Scoops and AA exhaust. I left traction & stability control on because it was a crappy 2 lane country road and I didn't want to die. Also, at about :30 I let off because there was a slight crest in the road and I didn't want to go airborne, crash and......well, DIE.

Car was still pulling at 140. Not bad for a little naturally aspirated 3 liter I6.

***NOTE***
Footage was taken in a remote, desolate, unpopulated corner of southeast Kyrgyzstan

I thought the limiter was 155? Or is that just the sport pkg?

Sport package speed limit was given as 150mph rather than 155mph and I think this is only true for a 6MT with the AT limited lower but I could be wrong about that.

I was doing 130mph flat out last night, about the same MPH as the 335xi I was driving before in the same spot.

Regardless, way too 'fast' for me.

Non-sport package 328's (what I have) are limited to 130.

He dipped the throttle for a crest in the road, that's why 5'th gear acceleration was slowed a bit.

I saw a video on this forum that took around 16 for a stock 328i, my 330i before tune around 15, but there are so many factors here, reason why I asked if uphill as that alone would of explained the difference in time

Hmm, I saw a video of a stock F30 328i and 100-200 kph took 18 seconds. He started accelerating from 100 at :56 and didn't hit 200 until 1:14. My run wasn't uphill but it was a horrible road, dips and bumps galore. I had to let off the gas a little or altogether a few times. I'm sure on a flat, smooth road it would've been quicker.

That would explain it, btw I saw a vid of a stock f30 328i and it was ~15sec, which would of made sense as supposed to be close in performance to a 330i but probably much better at lower speeds.

but again comparing YouTube videos like this is even worse than 0-60 mph times, just that 20 seemed a little bit much but the condition of the road, wind directiin etc all have a noticable impact.

Okay, but E90 328i and F30 328i are two completely different engines of course.

Just an FYI, it's not exactly possible to "remove" the top speed limit. mathematically, it can only be raised to 158mph (255kph). This is because the speed limit is a single 8 bit value and the maximum you can set it to is "FF" or 255. There's no turning it "off".

So the max speed no matter what is 155? Odd...

Well, regardless its a mathematical limit of using an 8 bit value.

Dumb question but is there an accessible algorithm or control mechanism that would allow the limit to be circumvented or ignored? I wonder how the actual limit process works.

You would have to decode the assembly. Maybe the address ref could be altered and a 16bit value used. But right now, effectively no.

Have you hit the speed limiter ever? I know you're running a higher final drive.

You spend too much time on R3V, what is going on with your tune?

hellsno

Can't think of a place where it'd be even remotely safe to run up to that speed.
