Low gear WOT SLIP?

Been having this issue haunt me every now and then. Here's the scenario

Go to my local testing street to practice some launches shhh.
Launch at whatever rpm I choose.
1st gear ok. Then once it changes to 2nd sometimes it would be like a rocket or It may(very moody car) disengage the gear. So you end up just free revving on what feels like neutral for 3 seconds until it engages 2nd gear again.

Happened at the drags last time I went against a hsv. That lucky bastard.

Traction control is fully off and it will never happen in a wot rolling start. And no errors.

Anyone else experienced this?

Hey mate. Unfortunately i have the same issue as you, except mines from 2nd to 3rd gear if i launch from 2nd. Im running map7 E85 flash too.. What gearbox software are you running? Have you drained the tranny fluid to see if it smells & looks like burnt clutch plates? I wonder if increasing line pressure will resolve the issue?
Hopefully an easy fix, but it sounds like to much TORQUE!!

Knew I wasn't alone on this. Trans software is the stock and so is trans fluid. I read on another thread to get the trans fluid changed and put b3 alpina flash. Im pretty sure excessive torque plays a factor in this

Limiting 2nd gear psi to uner 16 psi could be another fix.havnt seen the fluid but planning on getting the fluid changed.

Does it occur regularly? I would give it a 40% chance to happen on launch.

Mine only occurs at the drag strip when launching from 2nd gear, this puts a tremendous amount of strain on the trans clutch plates. I think the stock trans is only rated to handle roughly 350ft/lb (conservitive), and you may be pushing out closer to 500ft/lb depending on your setup. Yes limiting boost in a certain gear does help, i found around 15-16psi to work well to prevent any slip.
Make sure you just (drain) the trans fluid, i have been advised against (flushing) the trans as this can force metal particles into places you dont want them and can cause trans failure down the track.
Im running the Alpina trans flash, its great you will love it, but dont drive in normal D mode, its crap, use DS mode or paddle shift

Take a log of you doing a launch and this will record the slip in gear. I can take a look at it for you and see if its the same as mine!
A transmission shop told me that it could just be that the factory line pressure is not enough. This line pressure can be increased as far as i know!

Thanks, you sure know your stuff,
when i come back from overseas ill get a log> b3 flash then if no avail > tranny drain (85k)
have you replaced you trans fluid before any difference?

apparently line pressure is software realted.

I have not drained mine yet as i havn't had a chance to get it on a hoist, to busy with work atm. Thats right, to increase line pressure it is something that needs to be tweaked in the trans software! Though i havn't found anyone that is willing to help. I already have the Alpina flash which has increased line pressure but its still not enough by the look of it.
If you are wanting the Alpina flash anyway i would say install that 1st, if this doesnt work then drain and replace the tranny fluid (if its smells burnt then clutch pack will need upgrading or replacing) if the fluid is ok then try find someone that can tweak your trans software to increase the pressure.

Oh, and definately log the slippage first before you do anything! Could be a slight chance of it not even being the trans
