N54 ZF Auto Upgrade - Nizpro Australia
Hi Guys
Thought I'd share this... I was in touch with Nizpro here in Melbourne regarding transmission upgrade possibilities for the ZF auto in our N54 cars. Nizpro specialise in upgrading the ZF 6HP26 transmissions found in the Ford F6/ XR6. They have succesffuly upgraded them to allow huge HP / Torque Fords pull 10 sec 1/4 miles. Our cars run the ZF 6HP19/21 and whilst they are very similar in design to the ZF 6HP26 Nizpro didn't have a direct upgrade for our transmission. Around 18 months ago a guy from the US contacted Nizpro wanting to know if they could help build reliable 6HP19/21 ZF's transmission for the his 335. He sent a transmission to Nizpro to develop but has since moved onto other projects at least for the short term leaving Nizpro with no one to test the upgrades on. Over the 18 month Nizpro developed the HP21 using knowledge of the HP26. They produced Billet input and intermediate shafts along with a billet intermediate drum to allow added friction discs. They also entered into an agreement with Excedy to produce a heavy duty friction kit as there is no others on the market, and they currently have two sample kits here in Melbourne. Lastly they have* both hardware and software being produced to be able to read and right directly to the Megatronic ZF control unit. Nizpros goal is to run 10 second passes with a very reliable ZF to equal the outright 335 manual record of 10.8 sec (by Vishnu in the US) Nizpro are looking for a customer that owns a 335 that is interested in achieving the same goal. They would supply the transmission, the labour to install, remove and develop it along with with discount dyno rates for tuning the engine (they are COBB dealers) They need someone with a budget that is able to develop the engine package (i.e. upgraded turbos like RB, Pure, Vargas etc) that* make the car capable of running the 10 sec passes. If you already have upgraded turbos your already part way there, if you don't then they can work with you to source and install etc. They are obviously looking for an open minded person who are ready to take their advise when needed. I would have jumped at this opportunity however currently am FBO with stock turbos and don't have the $6-7k at the moment to upgrade my turbos to allow the car to get into the 10s If there is anyone interested please let me know and I will put you in touch with the director of Nizpro who I'm currently liasing with. |

I remember reading about this a few years ago on this forum actually!
So nizpro are essentially keen to sponsor an individual who has a engine/chassis combo whom is capable of a WR pass and in return they will supply the gearbox and R&D? |

WOW. Very tempting. I'm in the market for new turbos right now, and have limited my search to only stg 2's that stop around the 500lb-ft mark specifically bc of the transmission. This opens up a whole new realm of possibilities.

Also you should reach out to dmacpro91. He's running a big ST and has been having a nightmare experience with Level 10.

This is right up my alley & im in need of gearbox upgrade already, but im on the Gold Coast, spewin!!
Will be nice to know the outcome of strength & price of upgrades. I believe a 10 second pass could be possible on stock turbo's, albeit a 10.99 : )

I'll keep everyone posted when I have a chat to Nizpro next week. In terms of pricing, their stage 2 ZF upgrades for the F6/XR6 are around $5-7k and the boxes are rated at over 1000rwnm and are proven at the track with many 9 and 10 sec cars. They have some cars on the website http://www.nizpro.com.au/ I guess this an opputunity to be part of the R&D in which you would get the upgrade components sponsored |

I am keen so long as they don't mind sponsoring transport cost to/fro Perth
![]() Personal best 1/4 ET prior to my new set up is 11.2s. With my new set up (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1125174) and Nizpro 6AT, I am confident the car could make it! |
