I had no issue adding my Iphone 6 to the bluetooth menu in the car and using streaming. Are you getting an error?

I have paired her phone to the car. So able to use her contacts etc thru I drive. You saying the music should be able to be used that way right now? I didn't check, assumed I needed this cable...

If its a 2011 LCI then that cable should work fine. Plug it into the centre armrest connection point. It will then show up if you press the CD button next to the IDrive knob. I do this but with an old ipod, and then the Iphone 6 is bluetoothed for phone.
The issue might be if you have downloaded IOS8 which I don't think IDrive works with? |

well bluetooth method doesnt work it doesnt pick up the phone in the entertainment section. (i am able to use it to make phonecalls, just no music streaming).
so basically there are no cables to be bought to allow this to work are there? |

I don't believe the issue is the cable rather is BMW software comparability with ios8. Also the 2011 lci does not do music via Bluetooth. The best solution I could come up with was what I did, but a second hand iPod put your music on it and leave it connected in the centre console. This also avoids the hassle of constantly having to plug your iPhone in.

My 2013 works with IOS8... I did have to delete the phone from Bluetooth and re-pair it to get the music to stream. If I use a cable to connect the phone I have to do this then each time. It is a pain in the A$$
I have had a ton of issues with BT in my car working right and I had to have the software for the BT updated by dealer and the BT module replaced before it would work consistantly

To my knowledge any iPod works just fine, I have a nano bought second hand on eBay. Permanent plugging in kills the battery, not a problem in the car but means it can't be used otherwise after being in the car for a while
