19 SEPTEMBER - SATURDAY MADDNESS
Non Stop RWYB
Trade Stands
Club Stands

I'm planning on heading down first thing (8.30/9am).

The last time I did a RWYB was ~6 years ago. Not tried with the 335i yet.
I went to the last one. All I can say is the place isn't in great condition! The track surface is bumpy and off track is terrible!

Also had a nightmare. First 2 runs, silicone hose between FMIC and Chare Pipe kept blowing off on high boost.

3rd run torque went to high and car pulled power. Just like hitting traction control. Foot to floor, nothing. Have since changed my BEF.

4th run, was on reduced boost (meth adder 55, boost reduction on shifts 70%) but got a full run: 12.7308@116.94

5th run, tried launch control. Went too agressive, DTC cut all power.

6th run, car started to move off to soon when trying to hold the car on the brake and apply a bit of throttle. Triggered the timing and lost me about half a second.

Bugger!

Yep. The track is pretty bad I agree. I remember the entrance being in terrible condition too.

It's only ~8 miles up the road from me.

Ah 8 miles is good. I'd go now and again if I was that close but for me it's 90 miles. TBH Santa Pod is better for me.

That drive from the entrance to the track is terrible

If any vehicle is not race fit it wont get to the inspection area. It'll be shaken apart.

It's a bit rough and ready. But there isn't many places you can rock up and run all day. I never noticed the 1/4 being bumpy. The access needs a little work but it's not going to stop anything road legal getting to the track.

I was spoiled by Santa Pod

You will notice now. That run off\braking area isn't the best.

Nice people up there. Very friendly but even at Santa Pod most of the car fanatics and enthusiasts are also friendly. Good fun anyway.

Times seem spot on. People can complain about the surface and conditions but it's just a comparison against yourself or your local friends. This time v that time is all a bit pointless and for willy waiving down the pub. Constant good runs with flawless power and shit coffee with an ok hot dog. That's what these days should be about.
Hope you enjoyed it.

I went to the first one this year. Really enjoyed it.
Down to earth set up ran by enthusiasts. If I keep this platform ill be going again next year to compare times against a few winter mods.

That's a turbo charged Corsa I believe mate. Very nippy. Most likely stripped out. Good power to weight ratio.

I ran against it. This is a run I ***ked up a start. The car started to move as I was holding the brake too lightly. Still didn't catch the guy when I put my foot down. Quarter mile is over so quickly.

Also attached my one half decent run. Run off area is bumpy.

Corsa:

Forgive the start, I just wanted to raise revs with LC but not use it for the launch. Was trying to get a good 60ft time but still got 2.3 seconds. Crap!

There was an Astra van there too with the same automotive decals down the side, both rapid.

So realistically a JB4 could shred 1sec off?

My reaction and 60ft I'm happy with.

Well with good 99ron fuel you'd see boost go from stock 8 psi to around 12 psi easily, possibly 15 psi depending on how restrictive your down pipe catalysts are (which you can swap for decatted down pipes, that was my second mod and it's a great one), which equates to in theort at the crank around:

8 psi = 300 HP
12psi = 381 HP
15 psi = 442 HP

But yes, you'll see a big difference.

The offer is still there if you want to come and try my car C.J. Map 5 will show you what a JB4 will do. Then you can scare yourself with map 3 and 20+ psi!

Interesting. Your stock 335i times are pretty much identical to my times, which were achieved by my remapped but otherwise standard 335d with 18" wheels at the time. Worth noting I didn't really know what I was doing and just mashed the accelerator when the lights went green!

There was a 335d there too, he was quicker than me (his was remapped), but I can't remember what time he got.

Edit - found the slip.

Very good time for a D

I raced a remapped 535D the last time I was at Santa Pod thinking he would struggle with wheel spin. Instead it was me fighting wheel spin. Ended up being very tentative with the throttle and caught him just at the very end but passing quite a lot faster.

OH he was with his wife\GF. I've beaten an M5 when carrying a passenger in my car so I don't know if there's much impact on times.
