Is it safe to use factory hood and trunk struts with carbon fiber replacements?
I'm picking up a Vorsteiner CSL trunklid and a FRP V35 replica hood (couldn't find a real one).
Does anyone know if it's safe to use the stock hood and decklid struts? I'd like to keep using struts, but I don't want to punch a hole in my shiny new parts. If you didn't use the factory struts, what did you use? Did you just get rid of struts all together and use a 2x4 or something to prop it open?

It is recommended to change the shocks. I have the stock ones on my hood and it's very light. I'm just careful when I open it. No problems at all. I would just be extra careful or look for some kind of guard to catch the latches. Someone was selling brackets on the forum for this reason. As for the trunk I'm not 100% sure sorry.

Here's the hood brackets:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=488188 They're $50 plus shipping and handling from neuronpetkowski [] The danger of not using the brackets is that strong struts might eventually crack or even punch through a carbon fiber or fiber-reinforced plastic hood or trunklid. Does anyone know anything about the trunklid? Are there solutions there too?
