djgandy & hondarayblue visit
2 today on another busy day:
Andy's car first this was in for an MOT(passed)we just had to do one quick fix for less than a tenner, then on to his brakes. Nice and simple Andy obtained Gen BMW front discs and pads for what appears to be a damn fine price and we were tasked with installing them, so on the ramp and off they came. to be fair the discs weren't visually in bad shape, the pads were shall we say well worn (sorry about the blured picture) but apart from that everything went to plan Andy had reported a possible waste gate underload sadly this wasn't heard by my tech, that's not of course to say that this issue isn't present (being a 335i owner been thre seen it done it so know how bloosy frustrating these things can be) so Andy open house when you're in the area with some notice let em know and I'll come out with you re this and the other reported noise you've opened a post on, heard your 2 video's but again something that needs to be heard in the flesh but happy to help. Next paitent is Ray's 330i. Ray's fairly new to the BMW scene having been a Lexus/Honda owner so as I think he'd agree he's discovering these ar a slightly different breed Ray posted a little while ago re the common issue regarding the gearbox's on these cars http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1177682 and PM'd me for a booking and today was the day Ray had been from what I could tell "conflicting things" re the gearbox's on these cars so one thing he'd been told by one place was that the sleeve may/was leaking. indeed it was staining was also present around the plug are as well as it typical on these cars. Sadly didn't get a chance to see the sump pop off and the fluid drained as I was once again busy but after the sump came off managed to get a quick shot The sump was coated on the under side mainly towards the off side rear section as most of them do, the magic question you'd like asnwered is what level of fluid came out? Well (4.7 litres in total was drained and 6.2 litres went back in). Once the gear box surround was cleaned and the new sump was on we filled the gearbox while monitoring the tempretures running the car through the gears to get the max flow and the max fluid safely in. Once done diagnostic wise gearbox adapataions were re set plus as Ray had fitted a repalcement MAF, I figured the adapataions for htis may have not been done (and this could effect the gearbox)therefore this was done as well, well why not. Car was test driven then it was free to go. With the following comment of " The whole experience was worth the trip, and the E90 is going up and down through the gears like a new car now" good to know I guess But good seeing you both, Andy's however may need as stated a re visit as that sort of thing would bug me too |

Good to see you Steve, and thanks for a quick turn around on a Saturday.
The brakes feel much better, and the slight twitch in the wheel when giving the pedal a quick tap seems to have gone too. Next job, suspension. |
