New owner of the wrecked 07 335i

Hi guys,

I'm the gentleman who bought this car. It was one of those deals I just couldn't pass up, and luckily I had the cash and trailer ready that evening. Sorry to anyone who was hoping to snag the car, I know I've kicked myself many times over for missed opportunities in the past!

I didn't know what I wanted to do with the car at first... whether it would be a donor, parts car, rebuild, etc... all I know is it had some cool parts but was in VERY rough shape. The car had been sitting out underneath an open barn-like structure for 11 months, with the DS window and sunroof busted out. Needless to say... mold, glass, spiders, rats, glass, spiders, mold, and more glass. But it DID run...

When I really looked through the receipts, found George's original FS ad here on the board, and took a few minutes to appreciate the time and love that was put into the car originally, I decided it wasn't out of the question to try and fix the car. IND has shown how easily a roof skin can be replaced with a carbon panel, so I believe a roof skin replacement should be pretty straight forward.

Amazingly, it appears the front subframe (and frame rails) weren't damaged in the roll. The impact to the front left wheel was pretty severe, and unfortunately did claim the life of the KW damper and obviously the LM. I've already ordered a replacement damper from KW and I'm currently shopping for wheel vendors.

That's about it for now, the car is cleaned up immensely but the interior still needs a bit of work. I'm in the market for a black e90 shell, or parts if anyone happens to come across any in the NW.

Oh, and as for other projects I have at the moment (most, not all):

1991 318is slicktop - S62 swap/track toy (yet to be started)
1991 M5 Restoration - 68k original miles, parked for 16yrs
1994 325is Hamann widebody - 52k original miles, s52 swapped, turbo later
1995 540i/6 - M62 swap, supercharged/intercooled
2000 540i sport auto - Stock
2001 540i sport auto - Stock
2001 740i Sport - Imola red, full suspension/750 brakes. s62/6spd waiting
2002 M5 - Bluewater metalic, GC coils, CNS cluth/fw, AFE intakes, shark tune
2003 X5 4.6is - Stoptech brakes, tow rig - selling soon
2007 335i 6MT - Well you know...
2009 Ducati 1198S - Toce exhaust, lots of goodies

Now a couple pics. Glad to be part of the board!

Nice. Looks like the right person probably got it as jealous as I am. I believe we share a common contact, as he showed me the car when you got it
If I see any shells I will pass it along to him.

Thanks guys! Missed out on the first shell I was trying to snag so the search continues, KW should be here on Tuesday and then we'll see how far out of alignment she is. I need to finish up another e39 in the garage so I can pull the e90 in for windshield/roof skin removal. Should be fun

Also need a new oil cooler/lines... I'm debating an aftermarket setup with the stett plate, but we'll see. If there happens to be an inexpensive OEM setup available I'd snag it for the meantime.

Are you replacing the LM set or just that one wheel?

Just the one wheel, the rest will be repaired/touched up.
