humming weird noise, need help,I don't think it's wheels or wheel bearings?
Car is an 08 335xi.
I've been searching a bunch but hit another dead end for now. I have a humming/whirling (if that's a word or for lack of a better word) noise that I can't figure out. I can hear/feel something if I'm going slow like 5-10 and around a turn. I've noticed at speeds 20mph+ (really faint under 20) but the faster the more noticeable the sound. If the wheel is straight or turning left, little to no noise. if the wheel is slightly turned right at all I start to hear it and it's really noticeable. The speed I'm going matches the volume/pitch I'm hearing (in other words as you speed up or slow down, you can hear the revolutions of whatever it is speeding up or slowing down). Reason I don't think it is a wheel bearing: I just jacked up all 4 corners and spun the wheel by hand while touching the spring (I've read you can feel a vibration in the spring if the wheel bearing is bad) and all 4 passed this test. Reason I don't think it is wheel/tire related: I've had 3 sets of wheels/tires on the past month (long story) just put on used rims/tires that apparently they were only used for about 1k miles (I believe too soon for treadwear to be the cause, tread looks even and good though). Tires are not run flats and they are directional and all are on correctly. Some of the noise went away after putting on this set of wheels but there is still some of it. What else should I look/search for now?
