Not trying to scare monger... But info helps make a decision.
The usual remaps push the 320d auto over the specified limit for the torque converter. If i remember (going back 3 three years) correctly the limit was 400nm but most remaps would push beyond this to 440. Issue. Some people commented on judders in gear changes after remaps. Now some were able to go back to the installer and detune the remap slightly to resolve the issue. It was enough to scare me off but my car was still under warranty at the time and i didn't want to jeopardise it.

I have the Power Performance Kit on my pre-lci '08 e92 320d and although it's an improvement over std, I can't help feeling the engine still has a bit more to give. I have no idea what kind of power it puts out but I get the impression its probably around 190bhp / 380-390NM. My brother has a '57 120d and in std form it was noticeably different in terms of power delivery and it seemed to run out of breath earlier in the rev range. He has since had it mapped and its like a different car - the TCS gets a real work out if you give it some stick off the line, whereas mine is much more sedated.
Personally, speaking in terms of value for money I'd say remap all the way. I'm not sure how much I would trust a tuning box on the n47 engine given the known timing chain/tensioner issues but it seems a lot of people have been ok with them. Your car is a later model so either option shouldn't be as much of a worry but mine is definitely of that era so understandably I am a bit more wary. I'm contemplating going down the remap route myself now that I have experienced the improvement, but I'm not sure if I can somehow restore the PPK map when I come to sell up. My brother paid £399 for his which included an initial dyno run, remap and a second dyno run to see the results. I think he started off with 169bhp and ended up with 208bhp/425NM in the end which they said was a safe trade off between performance and longetivity. |

I assume your engine is the 177 bhp version and you required to have the torque convertor changed out. Can you give the cost for the kit and fitting |

never gave even a thought to extend the warranty Knew straight away I need more power but the 330d at the time was very expensive.
My friend suggests me px the 320 for a 330 or 335d But not sure...had a E92 pre LCI before and dont really want a third car with the same look, interior... So I just need to make my mind up.. PS: can anyone here tell me how will a car with a remapped engine sell on in the future? |

I can then sell the car as standard to a wider audience and shove the tuning box on ebay.

Yes that's the kit but to be honest I have no idea how much it cost - From what I understand the kit was fitted from new and the guy I bought it from didn't have the original invoice. My car is a manual though so it won't have needed the torque convertor so I expect it's slightly cheaper.

I had a CRD-T tuning box on my pre-LCI 177 engine and it was fantastic
3 different settings, each setting has +10, 20, 30% and -10, 20, 30% Fits in to your boost sensor and fuel rail and takes no more than 15 minutes to fit or remove Great if you have a warranty, removed mine in Halfords car park next door to BMW Plymouth when it went in for the timing chain recall, it is very handy being able to take it on and off so easily Can change maps in no more than 1 minute, and they really do make a very good difference |

Just go to a reputable mapper.
P-Torque in Wolverhampton remapped my 320d (163) to 210bhp / 430Nm and it pulls really well. Done 15,000 miles on the map, no issues at all. Will's mapped a few of my mates cars too, never had an issue. Dyno's them before and after just to make sure everything is ok. |
