Stage 2 Pure Turbo swap for N55

Hi i have a 2011 335xi M sport Manual. I have a question about if my motor and tranny can handle a stage 2 turbo swap with the existing mods on the car.. currently i have a catless dp, air intake, jb4 tune, borla exhaust, and charge pipe. SO with the stage 2 turbo I'm pretty sure i would be running around 520rwhp.. I just know that that is a 100% increase in engine power and i just want to make sure it can handle that power.. I had an very knowledgeable person on my car that also is a distributer of pure turbo tell me that the auto tranny has problems BUT the stick would be just fine with that power.. Im just wanting to get other peoples say on this please. --also info about boost would be helpful as well

There are no problems running the stage 2. Since you are MT you will need to get an upgraded clutch. There haven't been any AT problems for N55s yet.

You will need a better IC and proper fuel to reach 520whp.

Thanks for your input. Just curious what do you recommend as far as a better IC and upgraded clutch? --also i was planning on installing a meth injection as well..

-With these upgrades around what number do you think i could be running?

I would highly recommend the VRSF 5" or 7". I am running the 5 and love it. 7" is even better, but requires some cutting. Really just depends on what you want.

Theres 3 or 4 main suppliers of FMIC's....really cant go wrong with any of them.

Your motor and tranny will be totally fine. You won't regret the upgrade!

Six months? No

Last time I heard it was 2 weeks turn around time from PURE.

You buy the turbo, pay the core charge. Receive turbo, install PS2, ship Oem back to pure and they refund your card the core charge you paid once the Oem turbo is received.

Newguy, you left out the part that in not one single case has anyone that has gone with the Pure 2 ever regretted the upgrade. Anyone with any interest whatever in increasing their current power level, and may have potential future aspirations, must install it and grow the power as they see fit. I am hovering around 400 hp. When my CPO lapses, in goes the catless downpipe, ******, and 19 psi via JB4. May I see 490 on 93 octane? We'll soon see.

im close to ann arbor. ill pm you as soon as i figure it out, still new to this haha. i think im pushing around 400 rn w my 335 with fbo and jb4 tune but im getting it dynod on saturday so ill post the results. But one thing u guys arent including with the pure turbos comes the need for custom mapping and a back end flash for the car if you want to utilize the power I believe. And then you better hope to jesus nothing breaks or you will be breaking your wallet. that being said, i have not had any serious problems at 50k miles. fingers crossed

Im running fbo 15psi 93octane only no meth and i can easily say it's faster than F80 M3 stock.

ofcourse he will jump a bit with twin turbos spool, but after 90mph you're infront .

No you dont need custom mapping. There are several people that prefer to run only a JB4. You also wont break anything unless you dont log and run it too aggressive, just like a stock turbo.

Lol alright buddy. Show me those pro tuned stages 2s then. A JB4 is perfectly capable of getting the most out of a stage 2 currently.

JB4 is perfectly capable of doing it but you need to use the custom map 6 where the guys at burger wright one up for you if you log it I believe. but i think you can also pay a professional tuner shop to also wright a map. But as to the MHD stuff, have not heard too much about it but if they are professional, they should be able to make a custom map to download to the cobb or jb4.

You make your own map 6. All it is is putting in boost targets. If you pay someone to "make a map 6" that is just retarded. MHD is not on N55s yet. Currently there is COBB and PTF in which they use a COBB to flash. JB4 alone is currently the best option for manual and AT cars, DCT need a flash for the clutch packs.
