Finally had the Alphabet Delete!
So I finally hit the 100k mile mark in my 2011 M Sport so my warranty expired. I had been planning to eventually do this delete once the warranty expired, but I didn't know how soon I would do it. I had been keeping up with others on here whom had done this with the D and saw that they were getting impressive numbers as well as eliminated pretty much all of the CBU issues we've all come to expect.
Well, as expected, at about 101,000 miles the good ol SES light came on with codes 4862 and 48D1. 4862 - measured air mass compared to calculated air mass too low 48D1 - Exhaust pressure sensor upstream of the turbine plausibility pressure upstream of the turbine too low I wasn't able to find too much on these codes online, so I figured I might as well get the car into a shop and see what could be done. I had been following NC335D's build and was impressed with the results he was getting from BPC's tune (among other impressive things). I reached out to BPC to see what they could do for me and to see how quickly they could get me in the shop. To my surprise they were able to get me in within a week of discussing my needs. So let the fun begin. Now that BPC could service my car and do the delete, I needed to source a downpipe. I reached out on here and a couple of members recommended the banned one. All I have to say is that his service is top notch and he was able to get one built and delivered within 3 days of my first contact with him! Apparently it was still hot in these pics! Now that's service! That's just damn sexy! He had it delivered to the shop and they were able to get started on my car last Friday. I had already purchased the EGR block off plates from iaknown when he first started making them, so I was good to go on the EGR block. NC335D had a spare boost pipe at BPC that he offered me as long as I sent a replacement back to BPC for a future customer. This was huge as it allowed me to get that taken care of while the car was in the shop instead of having to wait for one to be delivered from Forge. It was definitely needed. Original Boost Pipe after cleaning to help with removal. Apparently it was pretty damn nasty. With the new Forge pipe installed with T-clamps for added security. Picture of downpipe installed. BPC performed a Stage 2 tune. Surprisingly the car still put down reasonable stock numbers, even with 102k miles on it. Car on dyno. Dyno numbers. Stock vs Tune I finally picked up the car yesterday. Holy hell! What a fvckin difference. The car feels alive and young again. They weather has been sh!tty here as of late, so I haven't been able to really get on it and see what it will do, but it's definitely night and day difference from before. I, for one, am glad to no longer have to worry about the CBU issues that plague these cars. I'm interested to see how my gas (errr, diesel) mileage is affected by this upgrade. I'm not sure what I have in store in the future for this car. Possible a bigger FMIC and/or meth install. I do know, however, that this car is amazing once it's able to breathe. Conclusion, if you are thinking about doing this delete, DO IT! You will not regret it for one second. And if you do decide to do it, contact the banned one for the downpipe, iaknown for the EGR block off plates, and if you're on the east coast, definitely consider BPC. You can't go wrong with any of these three as their services are top notch and their products fvckin kick ass! Thanks to all involved and thanks to everyone on this forum for your shared knowledge and engineering ingenuity on this car (NC335D, iaknown, banned one, TDIwyse, Yozh, Mark M, Hoooper, BB_cuda, DWR, FormerRotor Puerto Rican 335D, Greekboy D, GaryE30). I've learned a tremendous amount from you all and plan to continue to learn more. Looking forward to your thoughts. |

Glad we could help! That's awesome news to hear!
Can you PM me the specifics ($ and services) also? I think I'm close to biting the bullet on the complete alphabet delete + intake blasting/cleaning and want to get an idea of what it will run by having a 3rd party do it vs me. My Bohl downpipe has been sitting in my closet next to my oxfords for too long

Great post!
I've always wondered, do companies like BPC do remote tuning? I live no where close to NC, so driving there to get a tune is somewhat out of the question.

Just out of curiosity, looking at your avg. mpg on Fuelly, how many miles do you have on your car and what is your mix of city/hwy driving? |

Okay, that explains the low avg. mpg's. You might want to be careful about CBU setting in at a faster rate due to your driving styles. These cars don't do well over the long term w/ predominantly city driving. It would be interesting to see how much build up you have after just 30k miles. |

Not sure, TBH w/ you on price. I would just reach out to them directly. A positive factor for me was that I was able to have a tune custom tailored to my car, since I was able to take it there and have them test it. Another thing that I liked was that I did not have a spider boot installed in my DME, which would allow me the option of going with another tuner if I ever wanted to without going through additional hassles.

I'm in the same boat as NC335D in that I was able to drive the car there and they were able to tune the car to suit it best. I also didnt want a spiderboot install, nor did I want to have to ship my DDE.

PM'ed you with what they quoted me a couple weeks ago. Prices may have changed since then, but I doubt it and if so, not by much.
