Can anyone give me a rough estimate on price I should be paying to get these fitted in Sydney?
I was told by a friend that I should be able to find a good exhaust shop that would charge around $300 (~3 hours labour)

Any ideas? Anyone want to help me do a 'DIY' ? lol

I've heard up to 5 hours labour as they can be a real pain to install being so tight in there. A reputable shop which has done them before may do quicker though.

It also depends on brand/ quality of fabrication and design. Some take longer to fit than others. (some cheap ones don't really fit well at all)

From memory the VRSF pipes took about 3 - 4 hrs to install

For the money Yes, I was happy with the build quality and according to the mechanic the fit was straight forward.

I think BMR charges 500 ? I was told by a member here he had a guy who would do it for 400. Id be jumping up and down at 300 haha.

Yeh I might have to call around and get some more quotes. $500 is much more than I was expecting. Makes me question if it's worth getting them fitted.

if a shop hasnt done them before you might get shocked when they call you to tell you its going to cost more.

make sure the shop knows what its getting itself into before you go ahead.

You're joking, right?? Of course they are worth fitting and make sure you follow them with a suitable tune and other supporting mods. You'll not regret it. As others have said, make sure the job is done by someone with experience in fitting them. As you are in Sydney, it seems a no-brainer that you should give Advan a try.

Assuming you have an otherwise stock exhaust:

- I get no drone in the cabin at all
- Exhaust is louder but the exhaust overall is still pretty quiet. Going up long hills is not noisy at all.
- Freeway driving I can't hear much exhaust at all
- Cold start in the mornings are very loud, can use MHD to turn off cold start though.

I think it sounds great when you are driving fast and very quiet when you are driving normally.

Just a slight increase in "noise" but it is really a better, sportier exhaust note and quite tame really. Turbo spool sound is noticeable though - again, in a good way and more so with windows down. Agree with vtl - no drone under load or when cruising. Add this to the golf tee mod and you will have a tame but nice sounding exhaust!

Advan would definitely be the best option, they know this car back to front although $500 for the install is a little hard to swallow for me at this stage.
I already have a JB4 installed and running BMS DCI with map 1.
I have high hopes for the results from these downpipes, we shall see.

Isn't it also recommended to budget for O2 sensors as-well ? Easily damaged during install ?

If your mechanic is incompetent, yes

If you have a good mechanic or someone who knows their N54's, you won't damage anything

i would def budget for these in the installation.

I might take you up on that $450 Peter from Advan and hopefully I won't have to worry about a random mechanic mucking up my O2 sensors.

This, I had my "F**K the Prius owners" downpipes (along with other mods) installed by a Euro specialist shop here in WA over a year ago and my O2 sensors are still working fine.

No damaged O2 sensors for me
