There are countless examples on Amazon and Ebay where this pump is being sold for less than $100. I have also found it for sale as high as $300.

I just can't imagine that any of the sub $100 pumps are actual Walbro pumps. I ended up paying $175 for this pump from Summit Racing because I trust that they are selling the real thing.

I am curious if anyone else has bought the $100 version of this pump and if it was a counterfeit or the real deal.

You have to remove the exhaust and the heat shield to get to the fuel tank. The LPFP is removed and installed from under the car.

You want to make sure that you use as much of your fuel as possible since you are opening the fuel tank. In my experience you want to drive until your have 0 miles left on your fuel indicator before doing this install on the Z4.

Does the z4 use a different pump? Mine was about $130

Doesn't the stock Z4 pump have the same flow rate as the Walbro 450 already? If that's the case, how much of an "upgrade" is that Walbro to begin with?

The Z4 pump does flow better than the 335 but it won't keep up with hybrids. I just installed Pure turbos and the stock pump struggles to keep up.

The pump should be around $100....not sure where you are finding it for $300

If you do a search for F90000267 you will find prices ranging from $95 to $300. It appears that the MSRP is around $175.

What I don't understand is how Ebay and Amazon sellers can sell this pump for $100 or less because there is no way that there is that much profit margin. I have to believe that they are selling Chinese duplicates at that price.

I decided to buy from a trusted retailer and paid closer to the MSRP to guarantee that I was getting the real deal and not a knock off. It is not worth it to me to build a lpfp bucket with a suspect part.

I don't think that I ever seen such a large range of prices for anything that I have purchased online. There is something going on with either fake pumps or a very low wholesale price.

There is no way there is that much profit margin? I think you would be surprised how high the mark up is on most things you buy.

Ironically, the margins aren't that high in this industry. In fact in the past 5 years the margins go further and further down. I've been selling stuff at a only a few percent over cost at times to compete with the low ballers of the industry. It's extremely cut throat.

In other "Retail" markets, yes margins are very high 35%-200%, even more for things like Jewelery where the markup can be 2000%. The aftermarket automotive industry is nothing like the "Retail industry". Many manufactures do not control MSRP in this industry, mainly cause it's flooded with options and they have so many dealers selling the same bologna. The only time the mark up is high in this industry is for the manufacturer or for a niche product where dealers are limited and demand is high. Name brand stuff isn't even worth selling at times because of how flooded it is. The primary offenders are the chinese knock offs and the ebay / amazon sellers.

To the OP:

Walbro pricing is all over the place as they have no MSRP.

We sell genuine Walbro if you want a trusted source.

For those selling under $100 on ebay amazon, beware. I can't even touch that price.
