Which rims are best?

Hi... I'm clueless at deciding these things, so I'd like the kind people of this forum to help. Which rims would you get? I'm placing an order tomorrow. I'm probably getting 19s, but not 100% decided. May go for 18s instead. If that would influence your decision, assume 19s for the poll and please add a comment. Thanks!

I like the AR1's and the CSL's. Between those two, I like the contour of the CSL's better.

From an appearance standpoint, I also prefer the CLS/Hartge Classics, but I'm concerned about quality. The ASA AR1s are a quality product, from a known supplier. I'm not sure about the others...

Agreed.

The CSLs look the best, but you can never trust "replicas".

ASA is a Korean vesion of BBS. They are a quality wheel. Out of the three I'd go with them.

Matt, I understand your difficult choice! I just wanted to chime in and say that if you are totally unsure as to which one to buy, wait until you feel more sure about the style you like. Do't rush to order just to order. Asking for opinions is great, but at the end of each day, your looking at them in your driveway. Even though your choices are not super $$, it's still enough money to want to get it right the first time.

BTW, out of your choices, I voted for the ASA's.

Danny,

Thanks for your input. I have to say, I'm confused, but I do want to move forward and get something. I really like the style of the CSL's, but I am concerned about quality. The ASA's are well priced, and I'm sure they'll do the job. Another option is the OZ Superleggera's, but I can't find any pics of those on an E90.

The question is whether or not the quality of reps can be trusted. If I were shopping for style along, I'd definitely choose the Hartge Classic reps or CSL reps over the ASA's...but it's not that simple

Well, it's a difficult choice from the selection you posted. I think for rims, you really get what you pay for. If your number one concern is quality, I would recommend you bump up your price range. Basically, I don't think any of the wheels you posted are stronger than your stock rims. IMHO, I don't trust replicas, no matter if there from Taiwan or USA.

So if I were to bump the price, what would you recommend? How much more would I need to spend? I'm prepared to go to an 18" rim if I can get something that looks sharp. Value for money is what's important to me.

I dunno, hard to beat the "Value for Money" of four 18" ASAs -- $916 @ Tirerack. That's cheap!

Personally I like HRE's and Kinesis wheels. I've used them with all my cars (except my wife's) and they are custom made to the exact off-set and size you require. Whether it's for eventually installing a big brembo brake kit or for a wider lip. Expensive, yes but IMHO worth the money. Good luck!!
