ER Competition FMIC ? Help me decide
I'm interested to take advantage of Black Friday savings.
Considering this FMIC: http://www.n54tuning.com/er-competit...5/335/535.html It is for a 335IS. Any thoughts or input would help. thnx |

What's your question? It's a great deal and all ER dealers are currently offering discounts for Black Friday. TGS included

I have one for my 335is and I paid a lot more than that lol. It's a great intercooler, probably top 2 or 3 for this platform. I've previously had a 135i and a 335i e90 with a few different intercoolers on them (ETS 5", big tom, HPF 7") and the ER has the lowest IATs out of my experience.

Depends on what you are looking for and your performance goals. Overall this intercooler is a very good choice, i have it on my own car

Not only in my opinion but in the real world the ER is a much better intercooler then AMS.
AMS is over-rated. Nothing against AMS as they make some good stuff but ER is a better performer on this platform. If you want a great intercooler you can't go wrong with the ER, especially with their black friday pricing. |

Too much money. Buy a used FMIC and save $400 and spend it on something else. No way this intercooler has twice the performance/build quality to justify the price.
BTW I have an ER FMIC and love it, but would never pay that much for it. |

I'd kindly disagree and surprised you would say that for someone who actually owns their product. Have you tried others and if so why are you still running the ER if ones half the price are just as good?

I bought it used for much less than the listed price. There is nothing revolutionary about the competition FMIC. Show me objective data that justifies the price difference and I will believe the hype. |

However, I will say this... you won't see me putting a $200-300 ebay intercooler on my car. The quality of the core, welds and performance will vary from one intercooler to the other. If you've tried others and or have handled others this would be more obvious to you. The core is the bread and butter of any intercooler. Next comes frontal surface area, end tanks and the happy medium between pressure loss and flow plus overall weld quality and attention to detail. Ask some other popular vendors what FMIC they run on their personal cars, I bet they aren't running ebay intercoolers. |

I agree there is a serious lack of objective data, which begs the question as to why you say the ER is a better "performer." I am a proponent of buying parts that are historically reliable and at a good price. ETS, ER, Helix are some brands that come to mind. Whatever I could find in the for sale subforum is what I would buy. Unless the OP has specific needs such as maintaining the stock piping or the desire to avoid cutting anything. |

Keep in mind couple things 1- i live in Vegas (120 degrees during summer) 2- I track my car often 3- Its the shop's car so customers often test drive it to see the potential of their stock car if equipped with the right mods. Op, Before making any selection ask yourself couple questions. Are you just looking for an upgrade over stock or do you plan on tracking the car often? What are your whp goals? What is your budget? No matter what you do, dont get Ebay intercoolers. Most i have seen are worse than stock
