Just curious, who's had to replace valve seals..??

Not pertaining specifically to my own vehicles smoking issues, i'm just wondering a tally on how many people have had to replace their valve stem seals, mainly on the exhaust side..?? I've been reading lately and about 2-3 people mentioned that might be my issue, but there's no DIY threads and really very minimal threads discussing it..

So if you had it done could you please post your year/mileage, and also any mods you have.. My car is 100% stock and @70k miles that baffles me I could have a valve seal issue but just figured I'd check in with the masses and see if there's others out there who experienced this with zero mods and if it is such an issue maybe someone who has done it could post a DIY thread.. And not just like four bullet points "remove valve cover, cams, pressurize cylinder, changed seals" but like an actual write up would be awesome if someone who's done it before has pics and still remembers the steps to it..

I had done it on my old ITR @ 145k miles that I tracked every weekend so I guess that's my only comparison and why it baffles me so much that people are having this issue with no mods and low miles..

Thanks!

Im in the same boat with 80k. I have replaced everything there is to replace including valve cleaning. It sucks that its a 20 dollar part that causes such a big deal lol.

Yeah man that shit sucks right lol..!!

Since BMW isn't helping me as they should be, I'm stuck trying to diagnose this myself.. I have a good local Indy but he's so booked up and I have no time to wait..

I just need to know if its a valve stem seal problem or a bad piston ring prob. I really dont see how its a bad piston because the car runs great if i pull the plug and clean it.

My plugs look fine and my car drives fine, until it starts smoking out the o2 sensors..
