Coming down to the wire. Need to decide bov or diverters
My build day is coming fast. I need to decide which way I want to go. Bov or diverters. I want a set of vrsf or mmp inlets. Unfortunately they aren't set up for diverters. I also want it silent. Not quiet. Like stock.
My options seem to be now: -Quietest bov, still hear it though -Bov with fitting for recirculation and hook it up to either a 2 foot hose to muffle sound or fit a bung onto inlets and hook it up -Diverters and do above same as bov. I have a charge pipe set up for stock diverters in hand. If I go bov I need to have it exchanged. Which option would you recommend, why, and did I miss any options? At the moment I'm leaning forge diverters with the open ended 2' pipe. Thx

If you decide on Forge diverters let me know as I have a brand new set of Forge N54 diverters in stock (anodized black). Never used nor even removed from box, but did open box to verify contents. About 2 months old. PM for great deal, can even package with a set of our new RB High Flow Inlets for additional cost. As a combination they'd be perfect for one another.

I think TIAL is the least loudest. I hear that is louder with inlets. Still doest sound "ricer" like the HKS

OK. I want to minimize broadcasting I have modifications, but I know with fbo and stage2+ I'm still not going to sound stock. Just trying to keep it to people thinking maybe an intake and a chip.

Someone said active autoworks? Is tial the most quiet? Was thinking diverted and a hose or even putting something like a small cone air filter filled with loose foam over the BOV to muffle it.

If you go for a bov, get either the tial q or the turbosmart race port. in all the blow off valve combinations ive tried on my car, those 2 are the least noisy.

I went from forge dv back to tial. I personally don't like or want the bov sound, but the dvs had many more connections where a leak could occur (all the silicone elbows and what now).
Tial is the most quiet of all the bovs.

Why pick one or the other when you can have both? If you go with BOV and its to loud, you can always reconfigure in 5 min and have it be a diverter valve.

I had Forge DV's and switched to a Tial Q BOV. The Forge's required a bit more maintenance as they got sticky often. The Tial Q BOV just required cleaning when I first installed it. It's been trouble-free since.
When I first installed it, I didn't know if the valve was working because it was so quiet. To confirm that it was working, I had someone else had to step on the gas while I looked the valve with the hood open. I recently put in RB's inlets, and the BOV sounds a bit different now. Previous, it made a sloshing whoosh sound. Now it makes more of a pew sound. |
