Where does this battery cable go?

So I bought a brand new battery from Autozone and installed it last weekend. I registered it using the CarlyBMW app and thought I was good to go. However, I'm still having the clock reset issue every morning.

I then remembered that there was one cable I couldn't remember where it went and I forgot to hook it up. Does anyone recognize the circled cable below? Where does it go?

Pretty sure that doesn't go anywhere. I had the same thing and belibe others do as well.

Doesn't answer why your clock is erroring each day though. Are you sure the registration "took"?

Ah, thanks guys. I feel a lot better now. I looked everywhere and couldn't see where it went. I kept wondering how I could forget something so simple.

Memory is the second thing to go.

Can't remember what the first thing was.

Don't wait until the next morning, go out and check it once all your interior lights go out, about 15 minutes after you turn off the car.

Thanks for the tip. Although, I figured out that the problem was my new battery. I took the battery back to Autozone and they hooked it up to their machine which declared it was not good. It had a 12/14 sticker on it so it had been sitting on the shelf for almost a year and just wouldn't hold a charge anymore. They exchanged it for a battery that had an 11/15 sticker on it and my car is back to normal.

I don't know if I just by chance got a bad battery or if sitting on the shelf for so long doomed it.

Sitting for a year could drain the current charge, if it wasn't sitting properly and somehow got a parasitic drain. But if it wouldn't hold a new charge, something else went wrong.

And since you are typing, we can assume that you didn't blow off the crash charge the second time you installed the battery either!!!
