They really haven't been on the market long enough to draw conclusions

I think if you are that afraid of them just take business elsewhere... Dont really think that kind of business is obligated to calling you, nor is it a bad look if they dont... Im sure almost if not all of their business communication is done via email as they have plenty of other customer needs to tend to.

No company is going to give you that information. That is what this forum and other's like this one are for. I would say if you haven't read about any failures that there probably aren't many.

Literally just got off the phone with Wayne. Combined 92 R500 and R550 units sold. 3 failures reported. That's about a 3.3% failure rate. I don't know why that's an unreasonable question to ask. I can understand how some builders probably wouldn't want to share the info. Anyway thanks for the replies.

Nice to see they are so up front...I wonder where the majority of their current customers are geographically speaking? Figured we'd have more feedback with 92 units sold...Most likely Asian markets since they are based there.

That's pretty incredible that they would actually share that information. Much respect to hexon! Truly a breath of fresh air after all the recent "our turbos do not fail" fiascos with certain vendor who shall remain nameless.

Lol anyone who comes on here at least 2x a week knows exactly who you're referring to, given that there's a new thread created just about every other day mentioning their shitty customer service and on how they're turbos are leaking/smoking...

I got a follow up email from Wayne with detailed explanation of upgrades for different turbos. MOST Impressive, they will ship replacements if yours fail before you return them so that you're not hung up for week(s) while they inspect yours. Talk about putting you money where your mouth is!

Well some vendors are like Comcast / Time Warner Cable, Hexon isn't one of those. While I won't be buying an upgraded turbo for some time, Hexon is where I feel comfortable doing business.

Yeah I have to say if your are going twins, hard to contend with Hexons quality, constant product innovation and customer service at their price point. I would say Hexon and Pure are really the best (really only) options I would consider if I stay twins.

I have to laugh at this thread, but it's all good information.
It's funny how many people have issues and don't want to talk about it because they fear the vendor will void the warranty for comments made in public... we all know that guy. I can assure you that guy is not Wayne... I personally know of a few failures, all have been addressed promptly and without question. Wayne has gone above and beyond for a few customers which confirms his commitment to providing the highest level of customer service. I recently pulled my RR550's and even after abusing them for a few thousand miles doing back to back pulls at 30 psi, not to mention two days at a 1/2 mile event... there was no shaft play. I feel bad for anyone who finds themselves facing product failure, but if you're going to spend money on mods, you should also look at 3rd party warranties as well. I was quoted for a Route 66 $2600 warranty which is 4 year 48000 mile warranty for a car with 100k miles... That's not bad. It's an expense yes, but if you plan to modify your car and you plan on keeping it for a while and abusing it, you better have a bank account to support it as well. |

My understanding after talking with one of the agents, it really depends on how it's presented to them for the approval. I don't remember anything that specified only stock part replacement. Once approved the shop can put any aftermarket part on the car as long as it doesn't exceed the value of the factory replacement parts. If it does, there isn't anything stopping you from paying the difference to get a higher quality part installed. That would be between you and the shop. But I don't represent Route 66 and I don't condone insurance fraud.

With the work it takes to swap these out, any failure rate is too high IMO.
When my stockers (which I doubt are original) go one day, I'd be highly fearful of any of these stock frame units. Cheaper than a single until something goes wrong... |

My 550's failed, was told the thrust bearings were allowing excessive oil consumption. but Wayne is addressing the issue. Nothing bad to say about Hexon.
