Drawing power from USB outlet - constant power draw with car off?

I have what I believe is a very simple question.

I am using a small 7" tablet as a GPS/gauge device. I have a wireless ODB2 connection and I have wired the tablet to be connected to the armrest USB outlet to keep a constant charge/power.

Will this cause pre-mature battery failure? I mean, keeping it plugged in overnight or for 24 hours at a time. I know it's a small device, but I guess it's better safe than sorry.

Does that USB outlet even draw power if the car is off?

What about the USB outlet in the glove box?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The obd connector is always on

The obd connector is always on wired directly to the battery
but is fused.
Should be easy to tell if you leave the plugged in device on lock
the car it should turn off withing a few minutes if the power is
switched.
These cars are battery hogs by themselves.

I had the same issue on my 330i.

My solution was to clip the constant 12v power wire to the obd port. Now the obd Bluetooth transmitter only draws power when the car is on.

How is it powered because that's it for power

Power to all USB ports should be cut about 10 minutes after locking the car/ no interruptions.. The should shut the power off after that initial time.

Since you are possibly using an Android tablet you could looking into rooting the device. Then then set it to turn power off whenever external power source is lost.. That or buy an Aukey cigarette lighter charger and use that as power source.

This is correct, once all the electronics in the car go to sleep both USB ports (arm rest, glovebox) turn off.
