Customized i-drive screen

Does anyone know of any person or entity that will do customized i-drive screens for the E90?

I mean the same functions, only different layout than what is available right now.

ha ha, i don't think you'll find any "theme pack" for the iDrive interface, you'll probably have to figure out the system, where it connects and how, then try to come up with some API to be able to edit and actually use your modified files in the car and even then, there is a big chance you're gonna screw something up. i'm sure they converted all media (graphics, sounds, textures, etc) into some kind of custom BMW format so you'd need to do everything via some HEX edit app, which would be a royal pain in the ass. but hey, there is a chance (i highly doubt it though) that it runs on some standard (meaning publicly known/accessible) OS in which case everything would be possible. you'd still need to get/make cables or a transmitter/reciever to manage the OS data in the car.

i've been thinking about it myself, but i'm too big of pussy to start digging into it since i'm afraid to void the warranty...

oh i think it would be time very well spent. if you can crack the screen customization and have it all figured out, that will bring you that much closer to functions the screen controls. and then, my friend, i don't think i would need the crappy and unreliable BMW software updates anymore...

but in any case, it seems to be a rather complicated process that can break a lot of things along the way...

when people switch to V.26 they have new cursor on navy, new bmw splash screnn etc etc, so we have copy of this upgrade cd
in this disk ther are skin voice etc etc...
OS is not win ce but is MAUI OS9 (RTOS) by Microware
RTOS btw stands for Realtime Operating System.
and yes it can be hacked and replace skin. How ?? bhooo

maybe some one can stat to work in it

but if you scan v.26 cd you can foung ".gif" text on it, but i have no found an useful .gif extractor that work

You would need the Microware developers tools along with the software that is used for the iDrive system. You could then look through the software using the developers tools and probably modify things from there. The developers tools disk is not cheap but I think you can get a eval version from Microware. The tricky part is to get the BMW iDrive software/code in order to look through it to see if you can modify it.

i know the new TL navi has been hacked, and it didnt seem THAT complicated, they just found the main gif. file and replaced it with their own or something, now instead of saying ACURA it says their own stupid name, and i think they got to change a few different things also, dont remember.

"old" bmw use v25, v26 etc etc, so on e90 what is "the upgrade" ?? we must go to dealer's? or exist an cd-upgrade like "old" bmw??
