Schroth Quick Fit. Is it safe?
Let's have a a discussion about this. We have a company(Schroth) that it's worldwide leader in safety claiming that it is safe. And then we have forum members that argue they are not.
Whatever your opinion is, please provide evidence to support it. I would like to know from members who have use them. I also read in other post about some organizations not allowing them. Which ones? Thank you. |

I run one.
With that being said, I will only run mine while autocrossing, since speeds are relatively low and very safe (I.E. Off course and spinning in to no mans land). I will not wear my harness on the track unless I have a HANS device (I have the Quick-Fit Pro which is HANS compatible) and probably an actual roll bar/cage |

I've done a ton of research and from what I've found: 1) they have anti submarine technology so you won't slide under the belt in a crash 2) they hold you in tight so you don't slide around in your seat which gives you better control Some will argue that in a roll over these belts will hold you upright so you can't lean over if the roof collapses. However, research shows that most damage is done with side to side thrashing (factory 3-point belt) rather than the roof collapsing. With that said, my future plans are a roll cage as I continue to evolve this car into a track car.

Lemme get this straight, you'd rather take seriously the opinions of users rather than the test results of the manufacturer who stands liable for any injury sustained due to their negligence in testing? This then isn't a serious discussion, that's my point. Do enjoy though.

On a side note. Look at the E9X M3 video on the news section and pay attention at the angle of the harness. Which it's a Schroth harness BTW. I don't think is the quick fit though. |

My reasoning for using them: I trust Schroth.
Street: 3-point Autocross: QFP Track: QFP with HANS The QFP actually doesn't hold me in place enough at the track anymore. I notice that I try to brace myself more and more using the dead pedal, so HALO seats are next. Then bolt-in half cage. Safety is priority for me, so these will come before other spendy mods. |
