I purchased my E92 335 from Bill Jacobs (located at Naperville) They gave me the best price but I was not totally satisfied with my experience overall. The sales rep did not keep his promises (free mats etc.) and the sales manager was a pretty pushy guy.

I take my car to Perillo (downtown) for service. They do a good job. Next time, I will take the best quote to Perillo and ask them to match it. I believe they will accept.

Do not forget to check out Invoice prices (sticky on this forum) and negotiate based on those figures.

Good luck.

Knauz seems to turn over salesmen but it's a great dealership. The only I have with them is the whole "call center" thing... you make an appointment with an operator instead of with an SA and communications can get garbled. When you bring your car in for service make sure to go over everything with the SA before you leave and you'll be in good shape. They'll even do pickup/dropoff and leave you a courtesy car.

Last time I checked, Knauz was the only "Center of Excellence" awarded dealership in the Chicago area.

Especially in Evanston I'm not sure why you'd go with anyone else.

one more thing: as I've unfortunately experienced several times, their body shop does fantastic work.

I'd guess Perillo is the easiest to get to via public transportation. Purple Line to Red Line, Red Line to the Division stop, walk less than a block.

I've never bought my BMWs there (one from eBay, one from a dealer in Iowa, the Z4MC from a dealer in North Carolina - I go where the deals are), but all of mine have been serviced there without any major issues.

wow u seem like quite the deal maker! anyways motorwerks in barrington is great as far as sales goes, service is iffy tho. I can never fully resolve an issue unless its a simple one. When it comes to something a little complicated like that ticking noise from the engine they just tell me its normal. I wa steamed when that happened bcuz i know they are replacing cylinder heads for a fact!If its normal for a 50k car to sound like an 85 toyota, then maybe beamers aren't for me. sorry had to rant, but yeah sales is great. They gave me a great deal on the car especially since i ordered it before it was at dealerships. other dealers still markups on them at the time.

Got a good deal at Fields, but it took a lot of work. Not sure if I would go back. Any where I turned, I saw a lack of customer service.

Personally I would stay away from Fields; they have lousy customer service. I filed a complaint against them with their corporate office.

Chis Cole at BMW of Westmont (Laurel BMW) was my guy, he was nice, about my age (26) but I don't think he thought he had to try too hard to earn my business since they were the only ones who had the car I was looking for.
However make sure you've done your homework on prices and everything cuz the Sales Manager was basically doing what most sales managers do... make the most money he could on the deal. I got a nice little $1000 off sticker however I noticed after we agreed on a price in the paper work that the Acquisition Fee was $900 and not $400 as stated in the BMW.com Lease Specials... so I really only walked away with a $500 discount from sticker on a lease.

I feel dumb now because I'm usually very good at car deals but I had never leased a car (only read up about it a little). I'll know better for next time, and will probably go back and try to finagle a "lease loyalty" discount out of them the 2nd time around.

Another Motorwerks fan. See Steve Phillip in the Porsche showroom (they can sell any line)...best service/follow-up I've ever had from a car salesman and I've bought over 30 new cars over the years (only 4 from Motorwerks, tho).

As for the deal, ultimately they all wash out about the same because if they don't get you on one end, they'll get you on the other. More important to select the right dealer and the right rep.

Good luck!!

At Perillo I was able to get $1000 over invoice for my e92 335 when I placed my order 1/07, this was when they were just coming out for the most part and dealer's weren't budging from MSRP.

The catch was we bought 5 from the same guy at the same time.

That is too funny, I bought a new Honda Civic from Balthazar in 2002 a year after I graduated college. He was driving a 5-series back then but was selling Honda's.
