N55 E90 BMS Stage 1 review

Bit of history... I was not planning on doing it but an opportunity came up and it was a great deal. Bought from a member here and he shipped very promptly. Good honest guy! Kudos!

Completely stock besides the tune. Butt dyno is very happy. Adds a significant amount of pulling torque with the added boost pressure. Car sounds healthy, idles healthy, no visible codes so far.

Definitely feel a pretty good improvement at 1.5K - 3K and after 3K to 5.5K it pulls much harder. Much more fun to drive the car. I really like the torque in 2nd and 3rd gear with the tune.

I've also seen many threads where people compare Stage 1 to JB4 and say the latter is smoother. Well if you have 6MT and drive smoothly that issue is non-existent with Stage 1. Only time its a bit jerky is when you go WOT and shift quick at 5.5k - 6k So I wouldn't worry about drivability aspect at all if you have a manual.

I did notice during a 1000km trip on 91 octane shell gas it was a bit less agile. So I will keep putting in 93 after this and try 94 also to see how much difference it makes.

Only things I am worried about now are gas consumption and the stock charge pipe. Other than that no regrets at all. Mucho fun!

Glad you like it!!
If 93 is available in your area, stick with it.
Dont drive more aggressively and MPG will not suffer, easier said than done

Stick with the highest octane you can get, higher octane = more power to a certain extent.
