Auto Headlights

I have my headlights switched to Auto on my E91 but at the minute it's looking like the 'A' stands for 'Always on'

Even on a nice bright day like today it insists I need my headlights. Any idea why?

Thanks

Garage List
Bad light sensor maybe? Is your car dirty to where the sensor is covered and affecting the light to get to it?

Could be because the sun is low, this happens on my F30 it can be really sunny but if the sun is low in the Sky they lights are on all the time

Have you set daytime running lights to on using the menu?

I found the sensitivity too high, so coded them to be less sensitive and have 3 stage adjust through the OBD menu now, it's much better.

I have the daytime running lights switched to on but cycling between on and off makes no difference.

Coded the three stage sensitivity on mine to work via the settings menu on the indicator stalk, just too dark at the minute to get mine to stay off! Which setting do I want it on to have the headlights on less? I prefer having angels on slightly more than the 1 black cloud setting Bmw seem to have set the headlights to!
I have one box or three which is the setting I want?

Thanks for that, so technically I want it to be less sensitive to light so want one box filled as in the top selection when on the setting menu?
Cheers

Yes if you want the sensor to be less sensitive and the lights only come on when it's darker, then you want the top setting, 1 box filled.

How did you get the sensitivity to work via indicator stalk? Mine does not show sensitivity bars. I do not have idrive.

Via coding, I activated mine with NCS Expert.

evening all,

sorry OP to threadjack.. but can I just ask those that have coded auto-light sensitivity - can this be achieved with Carly app (android if it makes a difference)?

Also one other thing which really annoys me with my car is the sensitivity of the wipers. they never seem to get it right. must have some female hormones in there somewhere

so can the rain sensing wipers also be coded (using Carly)

Cheers

Garry

Not sure about Carly, I used NCS Expert to code light sensitivity.

Wiper sensitivity is on the stalk, but if they're not working well, try cleaning the glass above the sensor and re-initialising the rain sensor (RLS)

It's in the KOMBI module (clocks), change all 3 lines to aktiv:

LICHT_AUT_WERT_1
LICHT_AUT_WERT_2
LICHT_AUT_WERT_3

Good list here >>> http://codinge90.com/wp-content/uplo...st_v1edit.xlsx

Also use NCS Dummy as it translates German to English, making it easier.

To confirm, you can code the Auto Light sensitivity via Carly. It can be found in the KOMBI menu, and you will need to activate both 1/2 and 2/2 Sensitivity options.

This will allow you to adjust the sensitivity via the dash. Do keep in mind a KOMBI code will likely reset your clock and MPG stats.
