Sat Nav/speed cam Advice
I'll be getting pro-nav in my car when it appears in May
first thing I'm going to do is shove the speed cameras on the DVD, but as far as I can tell you can't get audible warnings. So I was thinking to get audible alerts putting a cheap sat-nav in the glovebox with an external antenna would work well, I tried it with the wife's tomtom one and you can hear it ok. Now the problems start, the tomtom won't turn on with ignition, reading up on it they took away this functionality a year or two ago on most of their range. does anyone own a sat nav system that turns on with ignition and has a port for external antenna, and allows custom poi's and err. At this point most people probably just say sod it and buy a road angel ![]() |

sorry should of checked website
![]() Do Snooper sat nav systems detect laser? Unfortunately due to impending changes in the law our sat nav systems do NOT have the ability to detect laser, however Snooper sat nav systems will include many mobile sites within the database. These sites will be where the Police often user mobile laser guns or vans and although there may not always be a laser trap at this point the alert informs you that there is a high risk that one could be there. |

The rear of the ashtray needs cutting out once you have removed the ashtray itself. Some snooper have laser plugin, depends on age of unit.

Check out ebay for external antennas. I've just picked up one for my TomTom for £8. Its not genuine TomTom, but its new and a lot cheaper than the TomTom unit. Robbing bar stewards - at least Dick Turpin wore a mask!

I looked into getting a laser/radar detector after getting caught speeding and it seemed that the aquisition speed of the new laser guns is 50mS to 100mS so even if you detected it you would not have time to respond and would still get done for speeding.
The NAV with CAMS is probably good enough for driving in areas you are unfamiliar with but there is no method that will stop you getting caught. |

Check what connector the Snooper uses, a lot of them are on the same connector now, so a TomTom one may fit.
