My new BPC tune with Dyno sheet

For those that looked over my new member into, some of this info will be old, but I wanted to give an update under a proper title.

Info on the car:

2011 335d, 40,00 miles on the clock
DPF/SCR/EGR deletes
EGR Block off
Down pipe from Jess
Devils Own meth kit
Gutted SCR (retained factory exhaust)
Sent DDE to BPC for stage 2 tune.

Last week I had the opportunity to take my car to BPC and allow them to do a proper dyne tune on it.

Red line: As above without Meth
Green Line: After dyne tune with out Meth
Blue line: After dyne tune with Meth (Recommended to at least double nozzle size, current nozzle way small)

Drove the car back to Alabama yesterday. I averaged over 37mpg, running about 9 to 10 mph over the limit, taking every opportunity to get on it that I could. The car runs great, not a single issue.

While I was at BPC, I had the opportunity to get a ride in NC335d's car. Words can not really describe how ridiculous it is. I am going to have a hard time trying to resist pulling the trigger on hybrids for mine, but for now I will play with what I have and try to concentrate on one of my other projects.

Want to give a big thanks to Dan and Bob at BPC, great people to work with.

Chris

Awesome info! Do you know if their tune runs the readiness monitors for smog?

I do not know, but I am sure they would be more than happy to answer any questions.

You better talk to BDP about ventures like that.

Chris, the numbers look nice! Try to make it til' 2017 without the hybrids.

Glad you are enjoying the car.
So, maybe I am confused. You had a stage 2 tune put in the DDE, then you went back for a "proper tune"?

Also, I think are are right about nozzle size. What size is in it now?

When I say "proper tune" I am referring to a tune on the dyno, where all the parameters can be monitored and things can be fine tuned. There is nothing wrong with anyone getting a tune by sending there DDE in and doing things through the mail. That is what I had always planned to do. I got fortunate to have a work trip that took me out in the area of BPC. I don't think anyoune could deny, a custom tune for your car were all of the vitals can be monitored would be the preferred way to go. I believe the gains speak for themselves.

As far as the nozzle size, I believe I have about a 440cc. Devils Own rates theirs in gph. Mine is a 7gph.

Thanks Bob.
Yes, I can understand the conservatism.

If the DOC/DPF is deleted, the SCR will clog with any tune. It just takes much longer the less fuel you add

I'm familiar with the chart. It provides a good starting point for sizing. From the dyno graph, looks like a little over 400cc per minute nozzle, assuming 50/50 H20/methanol mix. Unfortunately, some folks do not get that it is giving the proportion control info too.

Bob, I started installing my meth injection system yesterday. I was able to mount the pump under the storage tray on the driver's side of the trunk, but underneath the car beside the urea pump. It is totally hidden. The 2.5 gallon tank will sit on top of the storage tray (rendering it unavailable). I hate to lose the tray, but it's a good tradeoff. Looking forward to bringing you the car soon.

Venom, thanks for sharing!

I did not want to give up any trunk space, so I tapped my washer fluid tank and mounted the pump behind the front bumper.

How much you think was left in the car on fuel only?

My opinion is that all additives belongs to race track.
Somehow it feels quite artificial.
You get what you get with diesel only and thats it.
... Or maybe I am just so limited ...

Well most guys use it for cleaning the intake of carbon deposits. Performance is a bonus.
Since I'm getting your tune (same time as Peteys), also adding in an AEM meth kit, with a 200psi pump and a 500 or 1000cc nozzle. Which size nozzle do you recommend me using? It has a progressive module that ranges from starting 10-15psi and ends in 20-40psi. I mostly would be running a 50/50 mix, but I can vary it as I please.

Let me know how the kit works out for you, IF I were to get a kit it would probably be this one.. But I'm highly against meth.. #2 fuel only 💪💪

Start with the 500, adjust when the meth sprays, making sure not too much is injected in low boost and rpm levels, it can cause issues with the engine. We start the injection at 20 - 25 and end at 35 - 40. Its always best to set a meth injection on a dyno, then test on the street.
Thanks, I'll try it out with that.

I'll let you know. I think I saw them on sale for $400 on Amazon recently. Mine was the universal diesel kit.

My thinking is that I want enough water/meth capacity to feed it at about 15% of fuel rate. So I needed a 2.5 gallon tank. Also, I don't want to feel guilty for washing my windshield.

I also hate to give up the trunk space, so I am making the system easily removable. The tank is sitting atop the storage tray with a small ball valve on the outlet, and it is anchored by a nylon strap with a buckle. The electrical connections are insulated quick-disconnects. So, if I really need trunk space for a trip, I can unbuckle the tank, close the ball valve, disconnect the tubing, disconnect the wiring, and remove the tank--all without tools.

Maybe you can help me finish...how did you route the tubing and wiring to complete the installation?
