ABS light on!
Hi all,
Driving down to Cardiff using cruise, and suddenly ABS light comes on with all the brake lights on the instrument binacle. I.e. the red exclamation mark, the ABS light, the Traction control light.. then in the interactive display it flashed tyre pressure warning and cruise control fail light and then the ABS light which stayed on. Pulled over and called assistance who said to drive on unless car is behaving differently! So I got to Cardiff, checked tyre pressure, nothing wrong... must be an ABS sensor somehow! Car was in yesterday at dealers to get all four door handles and rear windscreen seal replaced. Now this! Its on 23k miles and thankfully under warranty, so I took it to Cardiff stealer, who said they were too busy to diagnose, and had to book it. So now I have to book it into my local dealer in London. Also when restarting you can drive about 5-10mins before the lights reappear. Any ideas?? is this common? i did search but nothing specific. Thanks, |

You could call up BMW assist and get them to look at it with their handheld PC. It would save you visit to stealer and its free+they come to you!

No assist will not come out unless I say I am loosing power.
Anyhow, its all gone normal now.. but I notice after 15mins or a few more miles it tends to come back on... hopefully won't return till I get back to London. I've booked it in at Chiswick BMW for Monday. They also managed to damage my key during the last batch of warranty work, so they will be replacing it. |

It's a faulty ABS sensor, nothing more than that. It's quick fix at the dealer normally, although they do have to hook the car up to the computer to firstly see which module has gone wrong, then also to reset the fault code once the module has been replaced.
